Chips are down: Would it be a massive letdown if an SEC team didn't win the NCAAT?

Even more bigly if none make the Final 4?

All bets are off come tourney time.

Every time someone says CHIPS are down a California Highway Patrolman wrecks his bike.

The NCAAT is a crapshoot. The best overall teams winning it is relatively uncommon.
But if no one from the SEC makes it to San Antonio, some disappointment from SEC fans is definitely in order.

By sheer number of bids the expectation should be several into at least the regional semifinal

For who? If it isn't Alabama that wins the national title I sure as hell don't want anybody else from this league winning it.
Arguing about league's winning things are what members of the league that don't actually have a shot at winning something big do. I can assure you Auburn folks aren't saying "well if we don't win it I sure hope someone else from the SEC does, even Alabama!".

This isn't really a conference pride ask - but perhaps more for the strength of the overall conference and Sankey. I agree with your thoughts - screw everyone else

This isn't football - we played 200 out of conference games, the majority of them against the other leagues. This isn't an assumption that the SEC is the best and deepest league, it's based on a large sample of on the court results. And the SEC lapped the field in every group of results - losses vs bad teams, wins vs good teams, road wins, neutral wins, etc.
The tournament matters for perception but nobody could argue the SEC is getting some sort of media hype right now. It's rooted in cold hard facts.

I’ve been on this website since DSL hit the mainstream but I’ll keep an eye out for that total if I remember to.

Obviously its a crap shoot but when half of the top 8 teams are SEC teams, yeah I think it would be kind of a letdown.
Its probably going to end up being Duke carried by Flagg though.

Back to the original question.
Yes. It’s unfathomable that the final 4 won’t have 1 or 2 SEC teams.
If anyone outside the SEC wins the title (except Duke) - it will be a big upset.
All that said, I hope you all lose to Ivy League schools the first weekend like we did last year.

It’s never bothered me before so I doubt it will be an issue now. History has proven a great record in the regular season doesn’t guarantee anything in the dance, that’s what makes it so fun to watch.

The tournament is so random; right team gets hot at the right time, a team in your bracket wins that you're better suited against vs a team in your bracket wins that is the anti-you.
Hard to predict who will get deep into the tournament, save for maybe those old UCLA teams that were better than everyone else by leaps and bounds.

It's the tournament.
I fully expect an ivy league school to beat one of the SEC's top seeds.

I am really sick of hearing about Cooper Flagg.

The NCAA is going to make sure that Duke wins it.
