Fresh off a national runner-up finish last season, Texas A&M, for the first time in program history, is the preseason No. 1 team in the land in the Preseason D1Baseball Top 25 Rankings.

The Aggies, which finished last season with a 53-15 overall record, return almost every key piece from last year’s team, including premier prospect and outfielder Jace LaViolette. Uniquely, the Aggies also usher in a new head coach in 36-year-old skipper Michael Earley.

Joining the Aggies in the Top 25 are eight more teams from the Southeastern Conference. Defending national champion Tennessee enters the 2025 campaign ranked No. 4, while LSU is the second-highest-ranked SEC team at No. 3 behind No. 2 Virginia. Arkansas, Georgia and Florida also enter the spring as Top 10 teams in our rankings.

1 Texas A&M

6 North Carolina

It's mind blowing that six of the last seven CWS champions are from the SEC....and it was six different schools at that.

It's even crazier that the last seven CWS championship games involved 12 CURRENT SEC teams out of 14 possible.

It’s still crazy to think Texas stole their coach while he was coaching the national championship.

Really hoping Riley Quick's Tommy John surgery was successful, and Hagan also bounces back from his season ending injury last year. Really need them after Big Ben and Farone's departure. Pitching, pitching, pitching ...

BTW, bigD, Cyr was a great pickup for you guys from the Canes. Gonna be a good one.

And then thought they were stealing every player, got none of them and also nearly lost the Big 12 Player of the Year to the school they just stole a coach from

That was not the win for Texas, people thought it was going to be when that news initially broke.

I'm assuming Georgia has addressed the pitching issues that held us back last year. Losing Charlie Condon will clearly hurt us offensively. I'm amazed at how quickly Wes Johnson has turned this program around.

We shall see. He had a great freshman year and fell off some last season. Now moving to the crowded outfield.

IIRC he had a hand or thumb injury that plagued him all season, but it may have been someone else.

Must be nice to have that kind of depth!

He hasn't even coached a game at Texas yet and has already landed the #2 2025 class and the #1 2026 class, that's not a win? Nobody who actually attended A&M or Texas expected a bunch of players to go their rival, it just doesn't happen.

We should be really solid on the mound this year; return virtually the entire staff plus added some solid arms. Reports are we have 7+ guys who were tossing 95+ this Fall consistently.

We lose Charlie and Collins but return Phelps, Branch, and Alford from last years starting lineup in addition to one of the deepest and most aggressive portal classes in the country. Wes has basically made it his philosophy to build/rebuild through the portal each year around a nucleus of 5-7 good foundational guys. We will have a very deep roster this season, question is if 1) they can all play together and 2) if they can continue their good if not great numbers form their previous spots.

It’s a different approach but there’s definitely intentionality and some proof of concept to work with.

I’ve seen MSU’s rankings all over the place. From near top 10 to unranked.

One thing is for sure… this is Lemonis’ get it going or GTFO year.

So he gets zero credit for building the A&M team? Some major coping there.
