What am I missing? Bama wins iron bowl and they are in the playoffs. Right?

As shitty of a season as they’ve had….win the iron bowl and you are in…and anything is possible after that. CFP committee is not yet fully ready to lose their hard on for Bama. Thats why they kept yall just outside with a chance to get in. Even though yall don’t deserve it.

They still need at least a couple of upsets currently they could use SCar beating Clemson and Syracuse beating Miami.

Alabama needs a lot of help, and is liable to get jumped by several others.

I don't see anything wrong with this. Alabama deserves this type of consideration due to their outsized influence on the history of the sport.
You always need to show proper respect to the greatest and the most consistent and honored team to ever play the game we all love.
It's only the right thing to do. Jealousy is a sin, btw.

I think they have to beat Auburn convincingly.
Ole Miss has to beat MSU convincingly.
SC has to beat Clemson convincingly.
If all three of those happen I think Bama is in for what's it worth.
If SC whallops Clemson and the other two are close, I think Ole Miss gets in.
If Bama whallops Auburn they are in.
If Ole Miss loses and Bama scrapes by ... SC might make it in provided they whallop Clemson at Clemson.
It's a longshot for SC.

Now, it would help all three of their chances if a couple of teams lost above them.
Indiana vs Purdue ... probably not.
Boise State losing would be good.

I think this is a necessity for Bama to have any shot at the playoffs.
Personally, I'd almost rather we don't make it but I do realize making it would be better for recruiting.

None of those would cause Bama to jump any of the current playoff teams. They need all of those plus a loss from one of the currents.

I know it’s a new day in college football and it’s getting more like the NFL every day, but I’d feel kind of icky if Bama won a NC with three losses. We used to say an undefeated season was the gold standard of great college football teams.
I guess we have to start looking at it like the NFL playoffs or March Madness, get in and anything can happen. It’s a tournament. Yes, basketball is different but hell, Bama’s team lost 12 games last year and made the Final Four, the greatest season we’ve ever had.

Currently Clemson is 1st team out, Alabama 2nd. If Clemson wins, Bama stays home. If Clemson loses, Bama has to win. Doesn't matter how they win vs, Auburn, just win.

Bama lost to 2 unranked teams. One of which was Vandy. If they get in under any scenario the committee will lose what little credibility they have.

SC will blow Clemson out. Clemson is overrated as usual since their peak days.under Dabo.
