Jalen vs Top 10 Defenses (FEI) the last 2 seasons

2023 - #1 Michigan, #6 Texas
2024 - #4 Georgia, #5 Tennessee, #7 South Carolina, #10 Oklahoma

Totals
109/177 (61.6%)
1,357 yards (7.7 YPA)
6 TD / 10 INT

Average Game
18/29 (61%)
226 yards (7.7 YPA)
1 TD / 2 INT

The one dimensional offense that 2 separate offensive coaches with different systems have been forced to run just doesn't work when a defense is good enough and well coached enough to take something away.

Good enough to win you a lot of games, but requires luck to get past great opponents. Luck ran out this year.

Pretty much sums it up. If a team can't take away what we want to do we'll are going to score quickly and score a lot. If they can, we're going to struggle.

Even a one-dimensional offense could work with a QB who can run like that if he wasn't literally the worst I have ever seen at running a simple zone read. Goddamn Mac Jones could do a better job and you can time his 40 with a sundial.

Where was Georgia ranked defensively the last 2 years? I know they arent the same as a few years ago, but still strange to think of them as outside the top 20 on defense…

It's a shame, too. Guy has all of the tools, either cannot read or process reads quickly enough.

That's supposed to say Top 10. They are #4 this year and were #13 last year.

I actually started this exercise with a Top 25 (non UGA) and UGA just to show how weird that was. But yea, UGA was top 10 this year, so they should be in there.

I was on the Rees did a decent job train as well. Especially since he was starting from scratch with Jalen.

Yep. He is who many people on here thought he was. We all knew he had his limitations but I was hopeful that DeBoer could work around those, and maybe his strengths would be enough, but its clear at this point that that was just a pipe dream. I was wrong in being hopeful, as the writing has been on the wall for some time now. He just is not capable of running the offense the way it is supposed to be run. Who else held their breath Saturday night when we went real fast when he threw the pick 6? He can't process fast enough to run hurry up like that, and you could almost see disaster happening before it did. Hurry up is a big part of offense these days, and when you execute it well, it can be deadly, but that isn't really even a thing for us with Milroe. Plenty of people on here tried to tell us, and I apologize to those people for being as hopeful as I was.

I still can't fathom why we would run QB draws over and over again on Saturday when it was extremely obvious after the 3rd or 4th time it failed that it wasn't going to work at all. Haynes had what, 3 carries? And every one of those runs was a success, yet we continued to just bash Milroe right into the teeth of the defense for losses or no gains? I don't claim to be an Xs and Os person, but how do you explain completely abandoning something that will work in favor of doing the same thing over and over again that fails?

I wouldn't go that far, but I do think that 2 years of total non-development at the QB position was dropped in his lap through no fault of his own, which then got made worse by a center who developed the yips. I don't think he's a great playcaller, but last year was not even remotely his fault.

I’m going to be honest, the idea that BoB wasn’t developing QB’s is just silly. Saban was not ever going to let that happen, the other QB’s would not have allowed that to happen to Milroe and would’ve voiced concerns, and BoB has been shown to be able to develop.

Milroe just doesn’t get it. That’s it. It’s that simple

Oklahoma has a very good top ten defense, though, which is what we are discussing.

I can't remember if it was the 1st quarter or when but when Milroe had the QB draw and had a CLEAR first down but decided to go EAST/WEST I knew we wouldn't get the first down afterwards. It's the small stuff like that that just drives me insane. You can't do that against a quality defense like Oklahoma/Tennessee and more than like AU coming up. We have way too many wasted drives because of stupid decisions like that. Our defense isn't good enough to waste drives

It was a general statement regarding JM as a QB for any team. And UGA is good. Michigan last year was good. This is year 2 and teams know the formula.

Is Ty Simpson really so bad that he couldn’t beat out that idiot who is starting for us now ? I will never believe that Ty was given a fair shot of winning the job last year. Saban should have told Milroe and his posse to f*ck off last year after the USF game. Milroe has ruined this program. Might as well find a new hobby to enjoy.
