I’m seriously annoyed Notre Dame is getting a pass. A&M is a good win, but the rest of their schedule is trash. They need to be told to join a conference or else.

Their overall SOS is lower than Boise St. imagine if they had gotten, say, Florida or Auburn this year instead of A&M.

The B1G played the following P5 teams out of conference

SEC (1-3)
- Texas (L)
- Alabama (L)
- LSU (W, L)

ACC (2-3)
- North Carolina (L)
- Duke (L)
- Virginia (W)
- Virginia Tech (W)
- Boston College (L)

B12 (3-0)
- West Virginia (W)
- Kansas (W)
- Colorado (W)

P12 (1-2)
- Washington St (L)
- Oregon St (W, L)

- Notre Dame (L) (0-1)

They have 1 OOC game left - USC/Notre Dame. They, as a league, are 7-9 against P5 teams with their best win being Colorado or LSU.

The Playoff Contenders played the following OOC games

- Akron (OSU)
- Western Michigan (OSU)
- Marshall (OSU)
- West Virginia (PSU)
- Bowling Green (PSU)
- Kent State (PSU)
- FIU (Indiana)
- Western Illinois (Indiana)
- Charlotte (Indiana)

1 P5 opponent between the 3 of them - a 5-6 West Virginia team.

And they are about to be rewarded for it.

If it goes down the way the first rankings have been done this year every single SEC team should cancel every remotely difficult looking p5 game for next year.

I realize as a TN fan this looks biased at this point. But ive been saying this all along. Playoffs are STUPID for college fb. Ruins regulsr season importance, kills bowls all together. BUT if it they just have to have playoffs. Bring back the BCS. Take top 12 teams no matter what. This conference champ automatic bid, and best shitty team automatic bid is a joke. All co f are not created equal.

A 4, MAYBE 6, team playoff is perfectly fine. I mean logically speaking there are almost always going to be more than 2 teams that after 13 games has a case to call themselves champ

This 12 team version certainly does, I hate it.

I assumed there were some B1G non-con games I had just forgotten about.

This is ridiculous. Not to mention the losses to the SEC have been blowouts. LSU let SC off the fricking hook and that is the only win vs. an SEC school.

Indiana is a great story, but they are about to be out of the playoff discussion. Oregon's OOC is solid, and kudos to them for keeping the Civil War as an OOC game and playing a very tough G5 school.

I don't see how the B1G gets anything more than 3 bids.

Do away with auto-bids. Just rank the top 12 and let them play it out. Reward the top 4 with the bye and the next 4 with homefield 1st round. That would be a start.

This is the best solution as long as they use bcs ranking and take personal bias out of it. Some will always exist but a "committee" of humans with inherent bias sucks.

This is what is coming. SEC will stay at 16 teams for payout reasons. There will be 4 regional pods with the winner of each region playing in a 4 team SEC playoff.

East ~ Fl, Ga, USC, UK
SE ~ Tn, Vandy, Bama, UA
SW ~ Ark, LSU, Miss, Miss St
West ~ Miz, OU, Tex, Gomer

This will bring in bigger or equal ratings to a playoff.

This year ~ UGA vs Bama / Miss vs Tex/Gomer

Not a chance. That format would be guaranteed to eliminate SEC teams from playoff consideration, adding games to no benefit.

Not to mention the divisions are shite the way you have it.

I agree that the new 12 team format has ruined the importance of the regular season (and to a lesser extent the conf championship games), on the other hand we are getting more high quality cfb games and I am here for it, hell I hope they just keep expanding the playoffs. I also like the idea of of an eventual SEC/BIG only super-league with regional subdivisions that mirror the original small conferences. Things are likely never going back to the golden days, we may as well embrace the future.

Exactly. Bring back the BCS. Just because you have a playoff doesn't mean you need a committee of morons to rank the teams. Just inviting conspiracy theories and outrage.

The BCS had a human element in the coaches poll and the Harris Poll (replaced the AP).

I don't mind keeping the Committee poll, and would prefer it to the Coaches and AP as a factor. Give the Committee poll the weight of BCS era human polls, make the computer algorithms transparent and add back the weighted computer portion.

[quote]The SEC seems to be against any further expansion.[/quote

It won't be 'expansion.' It will be break away from the NCAA and the CFP to run the super league.

My question is, "To what end?" Where does the SEC envision it going? What would be their end game?

16 team playoff like they wanted from the get-go .... with a SOS qualifier for at-large programs such as ND.
