Do we want to play in the SEC Championship or get the home game?

I hope not. I'd rather play Colorado at home than Bama in Atlanta.

If we lose the SECCG that’s 3 losses and we’re definitely on the bubble I believe regardless of SoS. So given where we are? No way.

I don't, and also frick the powers that be for making fans actively not want to play in the SECCG. That is so counterintuitive to what things should be about.

Anyways....with as banged up as we are all across the roster we need rest. Playing texas or bama again does absolutley nothing good for us. There's 4 possible outcomes for us resulting from playing in the game (not even talkin about injruies or fatigue or anything):

1) We win. Secures a top 4 seed and gives us a bye. After the tech game we wil play 1 game (the SECCG) before the next one on 12/31.

2) We lose and finish with a 5-8 seed. This is highly unlikely given that we'd have 3 losses.

3) We lose and finish wiht a 9-12 seed. This is certainly more likely than the option above and would see us go on the road to play someone in their place. We have not been a good road team at all this season. After the tech game we would play in 2 games (the SECCG then round 1 of playoffs) prior to the quarters on 12/31.

4) We lose and miss the playoffs entirely, which is probably the most likely sceaniro considering we would have 3 losses.

OR

We can miss the game and get a 5-8 seed and host a home playoff game. After the tech game we would only have 1 game before the quarters on 12/31, whihc is the same situation as option #1 above had we won the SECCG. So really the whole "oh you really want the bye week" thing is kind of a wash. We get extra time to rest, we get a home playoff game, and if we are lucky enough to get the #5 seed we get a hell of a nice path seed-wise. To me it's a no-brainer to desire the #5 seed instead of taking our chances in the SECCG agianst a top 5 opponent. I can't imagine a texas rematch going the same as it did in october and until proven otherwise I don't think we can stop milroe if our life depended on it.

For the records … I agree totally. But the thought of playing that soft arse Texas defense up front is enticing. However, without Etienne, our run game won’t be the same.

Yeah. Her'es the biggest takeaway for me on it. To win the natty we're going to have to play 3 really good, top ~5ish ranked teams to end the season in the quarters/semis/title. That much is assured. so before we get to that point, we cna either play:

-An oustanding top 5 SEC team in a neutral site, or
-Some pretender like byu or boise in Athens

It's a no brainer for me at that point.

I believe that the so called experts have us playing Indiana in Athens. Indiana is undefeated but playing in the Horseshoe this weekend (arse whooping). So they will definitely drop below us. After all they haven’t played a team with a winning record yet.

The Hoosiers are highly overrated this year. I would love to get them in Athens. It would look like the UGA vs TCU natty.

Why would you not want the team to have all 4 rings.

I want the 6 seed matched up with the ACC Champs, the quarterfinals still go off out bowl ties
SEC-Sugar
Big10-Rose
Big12-Fiesta
ACC-Peach

Semis are the Cotton and Orange Bowl.
Our path to a title if we get the 6th spot matched up with the ACC champ.

Athens, Atlanta, Miami, Atlanta
The tears and teeth gnashing from the national media and fans would be delicious.

The more I think about it, the less I know.

Whoever ends up winning the SECCG, I promise you that their fanbase will be chilling hard and feeling good watching all of the other teams play in the first round of the CFP and their team having a bye. What NFL team ever didn't think that a playoff bye wasn't a great thing?

Then again, if we lose the SECCG and end up getting left out of the CFP because we played in the game, that would be some complete bullshite and a serous buzzkill.

3 weeks of rest, healing and preparation for a first round game in Athens?

Stip talking; I'm sold.

Yeah, seeing the fans really step up and lose their minds vs Tennessee in the way that they did almost makes a home game an automatic win,

No, a potential 3rd loss would have put the playoffs completely.

UGA will be playing some other SEC team in the first round. There's no way that the committee will let us beat up a weak sister.

I would be shocked if this happened. If we're a 5-8 seed, a "weak sister" is what we'd be looking at from a 10-12 seed anyway. They aren't going to match us up against a team we've already played right out of the gates.
