Some scheduling oddities:
- opening the season on the road in a regional rematch with UNCW is unique. Wonder if that’s why we backed out of the Shriners Classic?
- No Georgia Southern or Mercer, only 1 game apiece with Tech and Clemson (neither at Foley). Lot to read into that tech scheduling decision… I don’t think Wes fricks with that program anymore after what they pulled during the rain game
- Home and homes with KSU and Ga State and look at West Georgia coming into Athens. Can’t remember when we last played them.
- SEC schedule is actually pretty favorable on its face. Toughest series are easily Florida and Texas on the road but otherwise we avoid Tennessee and LSU entirely and get Arkansas and A&M at home.

Potential happy medium solution for sticked threads. Can keep mundane day to day type discussion in here, but any actual NEWS (a commitment, injury, transfer, etc) would need it's own thread started. Game threads also encouraged.

Thanks for getting this started.

Any preseason/scrimmage/inner squad games scheduled before the season?

They just wrapped up the intrasquad stuff at Athens Academy a week or two ago. Imagine that may be the last of the public viewing stuff until the season. Big names out of Fall seem to be Nolan McCarthy and just the pitching staff in general. Wes seems to be pleased with what he has this year which makes me feel optimistic.

Should have Foley wrapped up by January, they’re not accepting any new season ticket orders this year as they reseat the stadium (which I get but also kinda breaks my heart as I’ve been in the same spot for the last 10+ years). Price of progress, I suppose.

In addition to an all-turf field, home dugout is moving over to 3rd base side

So Foley has been converted to turf?!? I don't like that at all; we should play on grass.

Also saw we had a player enter the transfer portal this week I think. Didn't recognize the name too much so I'm guessing either a new player who didn't last or a career backup.

Yeah, Wes wanted it all turf because it makes it easier to host off season prospect camps. The outfield grass was in ROUGH shape during the Supers which would mean having to resod the outfield before you could bring any prospects to campus for camps (which isn’t something we ever really did much of under Stricklin). He basically wants to do what Kirby does in football and turf makes that possible (much as I prefer natural grass and dirt).

Yeah Lukas Farris. He infamously had a grand slam against Tech in the game that ended up getting cancelled. Good player but wasn’t going to see the field or plate much with how deep this team is and now that roster limit has been restricted

Dawgs signed the #1 player in Georgia for 2025 this morning. #10 in the country.
