Those who say they don’t want Texas here think again

Texas has the money to be an independent football team. They COULD cherry pick their schedule and be another ND.

You know how ND is really a marginal team but gets treated like a contender without having to ever play anyone? That could be what Texas chooses. They could actually do that. They have the resources and the media love to do it.

I am actually GLAD they are in a legitimate conference where they have to earn a shot at a title. Sure this year they had an easy schedule but they will have years where they don’t eventually.

So stop all the Texas should leave talk. We don’t actually want that. Because if they leave the SEC they won’t join the Big10, they would likely go independent.
They would play OU and one other legitimate game and the rest would be teams they would dominate.

Let’s just beat them and tolerate them. Because living with them as an independent team would be worse.

Yes, their move to Independent was based off of the success of their TV channel … oh, wait

ND doesn’t have their own full time channel. That was always doomed to fail. Apples and oranges. They absolutely could go independent and would be very successful doing so. And they would constantly be a pain in the arse way more than they are now.

No, they couldn’t. They were supposed to be Independent by now. That was their plan but nobody really cared outside of Texas. They may have a lot of money but localized following. They sure as hell aren’t in CO, which is one of the plus’s of home.

ND has an entire religion that cheers for them

I don’t think you understand what being successful as an independent football team means.

It does not mean the entire world follows Longhorn football and loves them. It means they would win all their games and be a constant playoff team every year regardless of what people thought of them.

Of course teams away from Texas wouldn’t care as much as ND. So what? They would still be in a championship game every single year.

If you don’t think they will be in the playoff most years, then you haven’t watched football long enough. The media loves them and will openly petition for that team no matter the record, just like ND.

They are the most consistently overrated team in most polls.

True. My only point is, why make it easier on them. At least they are in a legitimate conference.

I'm glad to have OU and Texas in the SEC.
Both seem to be a good fit.
The SEC teams being geography West is not a big deal sine they are geographically South and have southern cultures of their own western flavor.
Heck, LSU is a founding member and they are west of the Mississippi.

I really do t care what UTx does. They also need the SEC more than the SEC needs UTx.

Texas should leave. They don’t fit. They have this aura of “we are Texas” but haven’t accomplished anything in 20 years.

At least Bama fans have something to show for their arrogance.

LSU fans have something to show for their occasional arrogance mixed with self loathing.

Texas just thinks they’re great because they’re named Texas.

Bad cultural fit, too. Trash fans, literally. They think we hate them because we’re so scared of them football wise… lol

True, but you have to wonder how big a TV contract Texas could get as an independent given your scenario where they "cherry pick" their schedule.

They got $15 million a year from ESPN for that station, it was a HUGE success.

Then why did it end if it was such a huge success?

What did all that money get you? Mediocrity in the big 12? TCU's whipping boy?
