Is it possible that the team could play so well against South Carolina that it rebuilt the fan base’s confidence in them going forward? If so, what would that look like?

If not, what would it take to get you fully back on board?

If Wommack resigned then Bama won 52-0 I would feel better.

With whats out there on tape through five games, I don't think Wommack can do anything to regain confidence on the defensive side. I'm just waiting for him to politely be told to look elsewhere

Offensively I just want to see our backs used heavily at some point, in a successful manner. Or at least some semblance of being able to ride them when necessary like being up multiple scores

The suspected issues with this team: maturity, discipline, commitment, etc.

are not fixable in a week.

We could come out next week and win 80-0 and you couldn't sleep easy because playing well isn't this team's issue.

We have NFL talent all over the field, we are capable of blowing the doors off anyone if we prepare well and play up to our potential.

However given what we've seen against USF and Vandy, there's nothing that will make people not fear that any given Saturday this team could come out and lay a gigantic egg against anybody.

If they don't take the opponent seriously, don't prepare properly, and don't seem to be "feeling it" during the game they could mail in a sloppy L to anybody on the schedule save Mercer.

This.

At this point they just need to walk off the field with a W.

There is no outcome against South Carolina that can make up for losing to Vanderbilt.

Nothing. A team capable of losing to fricking Vanderbilt cannot be trusted.

…and being the paid employees our players are, they’ll smile and really won’t care… got paid, don’t care. I hate this version of CFB.

Can't fix the trust issue in a single game. Alabama fanatics won't allow it. However, I suggest folks go read the Spurrier comments. Coaches and team completely overlooked Pavia and that offense. Kid beat Auburn 31-10 and rolled up 450 yards of offense when he was playing for NM State. Arrogant and stupid to be sure, but it could be the lesson needed going forward.

Edit: Can't spell.

I think some of them still do. Like I think Milroe, Booker, Roberts, and Malachi notwithstanding his bullshite the other day are all true Gumps who genuinely care about the program itself as much as they care about their own accomplishments. What this NIL/portal era has achieved is shattering the illusion that most of the players feel that way though, and the belief, whether warranted or not, that the players care about the program as much as the fans do has always been CFB's big appeal.

Not saying those are the only 4. They just stand out in my mind.

As others are saying, it's gonna take a lot more than one single good outing to calm down the masses. Saban always harped on "consistency", and that's what I hope the team and staff are striving for. There are plenty of teams and coaches who play great one week and crappy the next. A yo-yo style ain't gonna cut it.

If the team (and coaching staff) shows us that they are able to improve and learn from their mistakes on a weekly basis, that's what I am looking for. Bit if South Carolina looks like a great bounce-back, but it's followed by a collapse against UT and/or Mizzu, what have you gained?

For all the criticisms of Saban, particularly in recent years, his teams ALWAYS improved a lot from early in the season to later. The Vandy game was a total exposure of all the existing warts.

Nothing. Alabama just lost to Vanderbilt, it will take years or a national championship to regain trust in the coaching staff.

Saban pretty much had me taking games like Vandy and SC this week for granted. It took several years to get that way after living through the 1997-2007 years. The new coaching staff took 5 games to erase that confidence.

We aren't in Kansas anymore.

If we best USC, Tenn, and Missouri I’ll hand the trust card back. That run would be a good one. Finish up LSU I’ll be even more on board.

Bama has become a version of a 2010s era Big 12 school: prolific offense, speed bump defense How much does one create the other?

Womack is in this role till EOS at least.what I would like to see is just .. Better tackling. That I think is two parts .... Being in position to tackle and wanting to tackle ( blocker be damned ..it does amaze me sometimes watching a defender seemingly reside himself to "well...there's someone between me and the ball, I'll just wait till he gets here with it" )

I personally don't think you can have an elite defense though, unless you can run for 140-160 a game consistently

This is like finding out your wife got gang banged by the Dallas Cowboys and then someone asking you what she could do this weekend to regain your trust.

Well on the bright side, there is only 53 men on that roster.
