IMO he's trying to predict the QB throwing the ball and not running past the line of scrimmage.
Hearing it reminds me of his basketball calls on the radio.
The pass broken up part is weird maybe he wasn't watching the QB or couldn't see him and saw people running on the field.

Channeling his inner Fowler who kept going on and on about Isiah's drop in the endzone. That was hilarious.

Chuck is terrible sometimes. When we played Auburn and the tigers had 4th and 5 you would have thought they had a short play near the line to gain and next thing you know after 2 seconds of dead air time you just hear "touchdown Auburn". He just completely changes it up on you.

Maybe he needs to invest in a good pair of binos like all the old time announcers had. He doesn't have a monitor. That's a big disadvantage for some sight lines, but still...
This is kind of atrocious. He literally just made up a play and called it.

He has the voice for baseball but not football.

Are we still flying him in from Florida?

Insane if so.

Yeah... that's pretty bad. Literally just made up his own ending to cover for speaking too soon instead of correcting himself.

What's bad is they played that clip on the radio this morning and I was sitting there doing that puzzled John C Reilly face thinking "that's not what happened."

I was wondering when someone was going to talk about this.
The minute I saw that on Twitter I was like “wait, did I just hear that correctly?” Guy just literally made the play up and kept rolling with it.
He also screwed up the Singleton TD, though not as badly. But he weirdly held on before calling touchdown even though Singleton was like 8 yards into the end zone.

He isn't fluid in football and basketball.
Good thing no one really listens to radio anymore or this would be a bigger deal.

Spot on. I like him for baseball, but hate listening to him in the other sports.
Truthfully, I don't care for him as a person, so I'd just as soon him not call any Hog games. Scott Inman would've been great, but he wasn't a peter licker like Chuck, so he didn't get the gig.

Agree 100%. He also has a propensity(and I believe that this was pointed out earlier) to make it seem like our team is doing something good when in reality the other team is executing a gut punching play on us. He’s okay at baseball.

I actually think he’s really good at baseball because he is slow, and I miss him on the radio in the springs.
But he clearly wasn’t sure what happened and misspoke thinking Nico threw it when he pump faked just before going out of bounds. Not sure what actually happened he just assumed it was incomplete since everyone was celebrating.

I got an alert from ESPN on the pass deflection of Taylen Green that it was a safety.

What's wild is how much the UA is pushing this wrong call. They should just use the TV bit. I'd be embarrassed if I was Chuck.

You have shame, these people do not.

Thought the same thing.
I find it odd they’d promote it on their social properties. They did two different versions of it — the one above, and the other one with Chuck’s call over the footage taken from the end zone of the last play (which is arguably worse because it shows there was no pass attempt).

The TV bit is no better because they said the wrong name until after the score
