Lagway will have to get more than his 7-10 plays he's gotten the last 2 games to make that big of an impact.

Don't count on seeing Lagway much unless Mertz is injured. Napier is too hardheaded to make changes to anything that he does.

Has Mertz not played absolutely lights out since returning?

DJ is the guy next year there is zero doubt, but I also don't have confidence to make him the full time starter at this point.

If you look at his numbers you'd think he's been lights out. But he's not making many big plays, constantly throwing short passes, and not providing any kind of spark to keep the offense churning.
I posted this in another thread:

We're currently 95th in the country in pass yards per completion but 4th in completion percentage. We've gone from fun 'n gun to dink and dunk.

IMO Mertz won't win any games he's not supposed to, Lagway can be a difference maker.

Mertz has a mediocre ceiling.

Dinking and dunking, puts up good numbers, but not a game changer.

We need game changing play to hang around next weekend, like AR did in 2022.

I fear that Napier is too much of a pussy and idiot to let that occur.

In Napier fashion, we look somewhat competent against two terrible teams (see 2023 when we beat Vandy and SCar after Kentucky pushed out shite in (before going on a 5 game skid to end the season), and the fans have some hope.

I expect this staff to lay a major egg against a fired up Vol team with a lot to prove.

I have no problem with playing Mertz. My comment was more about Napier, I would like to see more of Lagway but this is Mertz team.

Nico hasn't played our defense. Don't worry they will make him look like a Heisman trophy finalist

If so, Napier needs to be told to catch his own flight home.

Agree.

I'm going tomorrow, so maybe I'm just bracing for the worst so anything else would seem better in comparison.

Has Napier won more than 2 games in a row during his tenure? Either way, I don't see him riding any tiny momentum he may have.

Expect a drubbing.

The fact that it's a talking point/twitter post along with the fact that 2 FCS teams had to be part of the streak. Such a shame.

Hoping we can gain some momentum, for the players and the fans at least.
