Auburn is a school where head coaching careers go to die.

None of these coaches moved on to bigger and better things in the world of football after Auburn destroyed their ego.

It reminds me of the movie Waterboy where Coach Klein loses his manhood.

Bryan Harsin - fired, currently unemployed

Gus Malzahn - underemployed, took a job at a lower tier school.

Gene Chizik - unemployed, was the DC at UNC, but failed at that.

Tommy Tuberville - fired and then took multiple jobs at lower tier schools and failed.

Terry Bowden - fired and then took multiple jobs at lower tier schools and failed at some of them.

Pat Dye - forced to retire

Doug Barfield - fired and took his talents to high school ball.

Shug Jordan - average coach that retired on his own terms. Kept his job until old age because Auburn didn't care about football at the time.

shite. I’d say sitting on my arse while Auburn pays me millions upon millions and they continue to implode IS bigger than anything in the football world.

Auburn isn't a stepping stone job.

Appears it is. A stepping down stone.

Most sec schools aren’t stepping stones. Aside from the Mississippi schools and Vandy. Kentucky in the past, but not anymore.

Where’s Shula, miles, O, spurrier, fisher, nutt, letting, morris, muschamp, shark fricker, joker Phillips, Odom, Dooley, butch, et al? I’m sure I’m missing plenty

To be fair, if your head coaches are consistently moving on to bigger and better things, that doesn't speak well for your program. Any major SEC program is going to have a long list of coaches that didn't work out and likely moved on to a lesser job, because you can't move higher than a top SEC job, other than arguably the NFL, and a coach who fails with the elite resources of the SEC is not going to get many other chances at the top. It's either a legendary 10-20 year career with a retirement or bust.

Why so negative? Auburn is proud to offer the easiest path to early retirement and passive income.

Mike Shula - Offensive Analyst for USCe
Mike Price - UTEP retired 2017
Dennis Franchione - Texas A&M, Texas State
Mike Dubose - Northview High School after alabama

I can see how you would be confused seeing how all of your ex head coaches go on to lead long successful careers after leaving alabama.

Every coach other than Earl Brown and Bryan Harsin (whose combined tenure is 3.5 years) have either lead AU to a title or an undefeated season dating back to 1948.. Auburn is a final destination

Or the counter argument:

Shug Jordan- National Title; SEC Title
Doug Barfield-
Pat Dye- 4 SEC Titles
Terry Bowden- undefeated season
Tommy Tuberville- SEC Title
Gene Chizik- National Title; SEC Title
Gus Malzahn- SEC Title; played for National Title
Brian Harsin-
Hugh Freeze- ??

All but two Auburn head coaches going back 70+ seasons experienced major success.

The most that Auburn has ever paid a coach is $6.9 million a year. That highest ever would put you all the way up to #20 in the nation, this year.

Why would they want other jobs? They leave Auburn with $20M in the buyouts.

Come on. You need to think deeper about things.

And yeah, how are all those ex-LSU coaches doing??

You don't think too good do you?

You're the dumb arse. We had a coach that left for a better job in the NFL.

The reality is Saban is a rarity in the CFB world at LSU and Alabama.

I can't really think of many contemporary coaches who have just ridden off into the sunset on their own terms like Saban did last year. Most are fired or forced to resign and often just don't coach again.

And when you give them a golden parachute like Auburn, there's not much pressure to go prove yourself again at a high level like in the SEC.

It doesn't matter what he's doing. The argument has already been won, dumb arse.
