Texas is now #7 among public universities

More useless than mid summer preseason football rankings.
Ranking schools instead of colleges/majors is stupid.

Talking shite about academic rankings probably means you're insecure about your intelligence

You are the one advocating for ranking schools instead of colleges.
We have that in sports, the directors cup. Stanford won it 2023. But people don’t consider them national champions in football, baseball or basketball. Texas won it in 2024. But again, no one considers Texas national champions in football, baseball or basketball.
Ranking schools instead of ranking colleges within a school is like crowning the winner of national championships off of the directors cup rankings. It is a stupid idea.

Good point but i probably would’ve posted it if he didn’t.
We finally jumped Aggie
On a related note I think it’s so funny when 50-60 year olds brag about these rankings when these rankings weren’t even remotely similar when they went to school

So many kids in Texas are now wanting to go to Georgia. It has really built a brand presence outside the Southeast.
And this is so true, especially for Vandy, Texas, and Florida alums. Most every Vandy alum over 50 would not have a prayer of access to the school these days.

I don't entirely disagree with this assertion, but there are places for both in my opinion. It's akin to ranking a country vs state vs city. USA may be the top country in the world economically, while certain states may not necessarily carry their weight. Overall the country (or university) is still a single entity with shared success.

Well Mississippi is dead last in almost every metric except obesity. That's where they shine.

Any reason you drew the lines where you did?
I mean what makes rankings in the 30's elite in your eyes but ranking in the 40's just solid? Seems kind of random. I mean I could see putting it in groups like top 25, 26-50, 50-100, 100-150 etc. But picking 30-something as a cutoff seems very subjective.
