it's ridiculous for FSU to consider firing Norvell. He brought the program back and under the new college football landscape it might be harder than ever to stay at the top. It's always been hard. their program could be set back another 6 years fi they want to fire him.

At florida, no sense in making a move to fire Napier unless you have a deal with someone who is a proven winner. Now, if the players completely give up on the staff, then you might have to consider a change. I have to admit they have looked really bad for his 3rd year.

the trend is no one gets any time to do what they need to do. Footballl is a zero sum game. one team wins, one team loses. every time. and there is only 1 champion every year.

Look at Moo State. they've just hired an offensive guy as head coach and after a couple games they are hollering for his head. You knew the Pirate didn't like to recruit, and the cupboard is bare. You've got to give this guy at a minimum 3 years to see what he can do. as one level-headed fan noted earlier on a post - he had no chance at recruiting nor the portal this year.

I like the home team to win. what can be better than winning a NC? but if your coaches are working and trying, and your team is playing the best they can, what more can you ask? (allowing that these are young men who are prone to make some screwups).

it's insanity.

FSU would owe Mikey $65m if he gets the axe. He isn't going anywhere.

The insanity is the stupid fricking contracts for absurd amounts of money these guys get for having one good season.

Norvell
Fisher
Mel Tucker

On and on. Stupidest shite I’ve ever seen.

ETA: Mark Stoops, Eli Drinkwtiz, and Josh Heupel all make $9M+

Another thing about this new NIL and portal driven game.

Once a team gets down, it's going to be hell to get back up again. It's like a Democrat economy, the rich start thinning out and getting richer. The poor start multiplying and getting poorer.

This is where the collective comes in to play. The truth is that most collectives are really behind the 8 ball. Look at Ole Miss. We are a small school in a small poor state, yet by getting the right people to run our collective and being forward thinkers, we've been able to outperform a lot of financially richer and historically better programs. Our collective is able to do more with less. We get the athletes to come and to stay. It's surgical in nature. A lot of collectives just throw a ton of money at a couple of big players. Well, spending money on guys that just want to make a lot of money isn't going to win football games. The coaches still have to evaluate for fit... for team players.

All this to say that you MUST have the right people in the right places or else you're right. It will be hard to convince players to not transfer out of a dumpster fire.

Y’all haven’t won anything yet though? So how do you know the collective offsets this? Secondly let’s say it does, work the way you think it does, how long before richer schools in more populated states become “forward thinkers” as you like to call it.

Baffles me why State won't hire a G5 HC over a coordinator. The only one that's worked is Mullen.

At some point ADs are going to have to start letting these guys walk when they hold them hostage after 1 good season. Someone like Sagan or Kirby - it get it - pay the man. But most of these guys cash in after 1 good season only to revert back to their normal mediocrity. To those guys ADs need to learn to say best of luck on your future endeavors when the jimmy sextons of the world start their shite.

I am friends with a lot of FSU fans. This is exactly what they were saying last year.

Unfortunately, schools have to do this if they want to keep their coach. Contracts mean nothing these days apparently.

the last thing state needs to do is get rid of lebby. need to steady the ship some. I am checked out this year but he is recruiting well and we have some talent. Have to figure out how toget some lineman on both sides of the ball though

What is even more ridiculous? Very soon you'll have kids not long out of high school making that much.
