Is Napier a coach or a salesman? Saban calls out culture at UF.

Apparently Saban called out the culture in the UF program. Here is Napier's response:
I read that in monotone. There is no universe where I see a heated response or emotion from Napier. It's just coach speak and a sales pitch and meaningless replies.
Talks all summer about this being his best team, all sorts of improvement, etc. Shits the bed against Miami and we find out from Miami coaches that they looked at UF's most common / best plays from 2023 and all of them showed up in the initial script from UF and that Miami was prepared for each of them. That's not the level of preparation that I would expect for $7M/yr and a staff of eleventy billion analysts.
Either none of those analysts are doing their jobs and red-teaming things or Napier is ignoring them, or both; but, he talked about analysis, analytics, all sorts of details needed to win in modern college football, and convinced UF to fund this huge staff - well, where does it pay off?
Being predictable is a sin itself, but not having developed some other plays is also a problem. That tells me he isn't coaching, or if he is, he doesn't know how to do it properly.
I think Napier did a great job of selling himself to UF and now UF is paying $7M/yr (plus the largest staff in history) for a sales pitch. But, what do I know? I'm just some guy in rural central Florida, typing in my basement.

I mean you have to sell yourself, it's just how life works, but jeez man... talk about LSU dodging a bullet. Not totally stoked on BK at the moment but boy it could be so much worse.
I just don't understand how an even average coach isn't like a kid in a candy store in Florida with all that talent, and I have to think UF isn't hurting for resources.
After pinching myself Sunday morning in the 90s when we beat them 28-21 because they would beat us by 3-5 touchdowns or more regularly, I can't really believe we're even having this conversation about Florida today.

Some of the beat writers have said that UF's new stand-alone facility is as good as anything out there. I don't know if that's true, but certainly the argument about facilities can't be used against UF now.
Napier has gotten everything a coach could ask for in terms of support, resources, etc. In turn he hired a massive staff and seems to be flushing money down the toilet every day. I'm surprised the AD didn't force Napier to fire all those people - well, strike that - I'm not surprised by that at all. That's what should happen, but it will never happen with Stricklin. He should force Napier to sit those people down and explain to them that he has done so little with their time and effort with regard to improving the product on the field, that they are now fired. Make him go through that and perhaps a fire will be lit under his arse, but that will never happen.
To go into a new season and be totally predictable by an opponent you have not been regularly playing is just unforgivable.

Florida's culture has been shite since 2010.

So, the next step is winning? Genius.

Napier reminds me of Mike Shula.

I don't think it's good on substance either - it doesn't respond to culture.

I don't see where he disagreed with Saban. Just said they needed some success to build on.
Doesn't seem wrong to me. Hard to sell success when you aren't having any.
It's his job to change that is about the only thing he could have added. Otherwise, it's not about what he's saying, but rather what Florida has to do.

I hope no other coaches steal this secret to success.

Welll I guess the analysts had seen enough in practice to reaiize Lagway could hit deep passes.

Saban and Napier have different definitions of good culture.
Saban's is simple: winning culture.
Napier is a little more abstract in that he thinks good culture means developing good people. It is doing charity work, going to class, not getting in trouble, etc. That might be admirable, but it's not why he was brought here. Billy has a high school coach mindset.

If that required analysts, then fire Napier right now.

Ol Sun Belt Billy just makes me feel sad for Florida. I mean they deserve it and I hope Kirby hangs 70 on them, but he’s just Sad.

I just think it's a bad fit. Billy Napier isn't a bad football coach. Sometimes coaches and schools just don't fit for whatever reason.

I remember when Coach Bryant told a group of inebriated sportswriters at his country club one night after being asked why the Florida Gators were such low achievers.
He replied, "Hell!...you can't run a football with a hard dick."...true story.

lol bad fit?
Imagine if LSU hired Napier, then went on the road and got smashed by Vandy.
You think we were mad? LSU fans would’ve burned this whole website to the ground
