X and O question...

What are we to do when we are on offense and the defensive line overloads one side? It seems our tackle never pays attention to the extra guy. You'd think he could turn his head and think "oh shite , I'm on the end so I better take him before he runs to the qb".
But invariably that guy is left unblocked. The rb doesn't pick it up and we take a loss.
And the qb, who literally scans the field and can see that he will get plowed, doesnt do a thing.
We never pick that up..if I was Kentucky I'd load one side all day and run like fire to sellers. If we are dumb enough to not pick it up then silly us.
There has to be a fix to that scenario.

Question is have they given Sellers the authority to call an audible as a freshman?

Probably not at this point. But that is a major problem..
They should have a hot route designed to go in the vacated area.
Hopefully sec teams will line up more traditional.

If there are more pass rushers than blockers, there are basically three options. One is to check to another play, usually a run. The second is to adjust the pass protection to pick up the extra rusher. The last option is to leave the widest rusher unblocked and throw hot to that side if he rushes. All three have their pros and cons, but the latter two are heavily dependent on the QBs ability to recognize the defense, make the adjustments, and execute. Obviously, this can be difficult at times for a young, inexperienced QB like Sellers to do consistently.

If you are overloaded on one side/area/situation, that means they are underloaded somewhere else. Exploit it.
Nice beatdown of Kentucky today.
Great day for the Gamecocks.
