quote:Milroe seems to have a chip on his shoulder about being a pocket passer that Daniels didn't (JD was already a good passer.) He's even said so in an interview I believe, in response to something Bill O'Brien said about his limitations.
But Daniels was very hesitant in 22 and it threw all the timing off. in 23 he just let it rip and the rest is history.
If he can get past that and get anywhere close to Daniel's decisiveness as a runner, he would truly be a nightmare for every DC he faces.

People would have said the same thing about Jayden Daniels before last year and he won the Heisman and got drafted first.
Not me. After watching him beat Alabama, I knew the kid was a badass.
JD was one of the scariest QBs I've ever seen Alabama face. He reminded me of Deshaun Watson in that the game was never over as long as he was under center.

Then forget Derrick Henry was averaging 8 ypc literally every time he touched the ball against Ohio State?

Daniels has always been decisive when he chooses to run.
His issue was he wouldn’t trust his reads.
He would throw to the right guy, but late.
So he was constantly behind on timing routes and guys hat to slow down or stop to make the catch. and deep balls he would just let them outrun him and not throw.

doesn't matter at this point. Going into 19, Burrow was assumed late round, and Tua #1.
Certainly no one had Daniels at 2, going into last season.
Pretty telling that other fanbases( who Milroe has beat) defend him against Bama fans who treat him like he's a bum.
I dont know why our fans have this need to talk about him like he's a tomato can.

"As much as it pains my heart, I have no choice but to move Milroe down on my 2025 NFL Draft Board.
Why would it pain the heart of an NFL scout to provide a strictly analytical appraisal of a football player? Isn't that their job?
Why the need for the "pains my heart" qualifier? I mean, that almost sounds as if he is a close personal friend of Milroe or his family.
I read the person's bio and he didn't seem to be affiliated with Alabama in any way whatsoever, even as a fan as far as could be determined.
It's odd that it would personally wound him in such a horrific and detrimental way to simply do what he has done probably 10 thousand times, which is give an honest report.
I wonder what is going on?

Maybe he sees how Bama fans talk about him like he's a piece of shite even though he works his arse off everyday to do everything right.

It personally affects a grown man's heart, a vital organ in a human body, to write up a report on a football player while that is, or was, his actual job?
You feel that NFL scouts base their analytical analyses on the finicky whims of public opinion/message board bloviations/radio talk show call-ins?
There has to be more to his cringe conciliatory modifier of "pains my heart". Evidently Jalen Milroe means a great deal to him both emotionally and mentally. But why?

Nobody is saying he doesn't work hard. He is a great kid, great teammate, loves his coaches but that's not the bottom line. His throwing motion i slow, reads are horrible, holds the ball too long and a Bama QB that can't hit 10 yd routes shouldn't be out there.
Had Bama had Carson Beck last season they win the title. I know the center had his issues but the only reason games like Auburn came down to the last play was his skipping passes to receivers, throwing behind the back on a swing route that resulted in a loss. crossing the got damn line of scrimmage by 5 yds then throwing and throwing 3 yds behind a receiver who was open on a 15 yd dig route. Bama beat Arkie, LSU, Ms State and UGA last season because of his legs. I honestly see him in the NFL as a TE or RB where I think he would shine. I can't stand Bill O'Brien but he was right about him. In all due respect to Coach Saban, the Bama program had dropped off a lot in the last couple years. He got away from what made him great and started trying to be all fun n gun, explosive plays, scoring quick and the program suffered. No defense. The 2011, 2012 or 2013 Bama team would have beaten last years Bama team by 4 TD's.

I don't know what ya'll are driving at.
This guy gives a very fair assesment of Milroe's draft prospects at this time. I imagine he couches his criticism bc many people have Milroe as a potential Heisman candidate(not Bama fans). Milroe is one of the most likeable & popular players leading up to this season so it seems it "pains his heart" to give him a less than stellar grade.

I think practically all of Milroe’s flaws are coachable though. He’ll definitely be a project.

Milroe has 10X the athletic ability of Penix. If DeBoer can get Milroe to perform in that same vein with his athleticism, Bama will stand on some teams nuts.
The offense really has to be on point out of the gate.

Because he is garbage. It was obvious. He is not good.
A slight upgrade from Jordan Jefferson.
College Football ‘25 put him at 93, which just goes to show you that everyone is overestimating Bama because of their run from 2009-2017 and their fool’s gold from last year.
He is garbage. Bad.

Yet will beat Corndog U...again.
Truth is, Milroe did not end last season strong. If he's the same QB he was during the last 3 games of last season he won't be the starter by the time LSU comes along. The 4th down pass for the win vs Auburn kinda overshadowed he didn't have a good game. Same vs Georgia...a couple of big scramble plays, but he did not have a good game. No doubt he has a lot to prove. We'll see.
