I don't have many or a lot of concerns (WAY, WAY too much talent on this team to be too worried) but if I had to list two areas I'm a smidge concerned about, I'd say:

1. The OT spots. I'm hoping Proctor comes back in shape and not wildly out of shape like he was early last year and I'm a smidge concerned about the other spot with Elijah Pritchett. Last year, Pritchett got abused like a $2 hooker out there. He may have improved (I hope so) but if he's not improved, I hope he gets yanked and Wilkin Formby gets a shot. On the other hand, Proctor may show up in amazing shape and Pritchett has massively improved.

2. The defense gelling, especially the secondary. I have no doubt these guys can play but everyone needs to be on the same page.

IMO, if those situations can be resolved, I don't know if Bama loses any games this year. I think they're going to score a crap load of points.

Yea most of my concerns are on the defensive end . New secondary and am interested how the new scheme ( and possibly body types) are going to hold up against the run game

1. Defensive secondary continuity - there's talent there, but we've got a brand new systems and we're going to be relying on several guys who have barely played, and the ones that are experienced have never played together.

2. Playmakers at wide receiver - Prentice, Law, Bernard have only shown, with rare exception, to be possession-type guys, not game breakers. I had high hopes for Jalen Hale on that front but his injury obviously is a major issue. How quickly can Ryan Williams get up to speed? Freshmen can dominate at that position, but he's supposed to be a HS senior. Lots to be determined at WR.

Quarterback. Nothing else really matters if we can't hit 7 yard passes

The offensive line was something of a crap shoot last year. Inexperience at left tackle was a glaring issue at times, and overall the line wasn't as athletic as it needed to be.

Theoretically our line play should be improved, but much depends on how well the line adapts to Coach DeBoer's system. If individual linemen haven't improved their athleticism we won't be able to run stretch plays very well.

I'm worried about depth at center. Brailsford should be solid, although he's going to see stronger competition week in and week out in the SEC. But at least he should be able to snap the ball to our QB consistently. I have no idea who's behind him if he gets hurt.

QB is also an area of concern for me. Jalen Milroe has done everything right this offseason (seemingly), and most folks are penciling him in as the starter. I'm still not convinced his awareness and decision-making are where they need to be, though, which means Ty Simpson or another QB will be asked to run the offense. We just don't have enough of a sample size to know who can run DeBoer's offense effectively.

Defense overall is a concern for me. I HOPE our secondary can gel quickly, but that's all it is -- a hope. We've got a lot of talent, but very little SEC-level experience -- at least as far as working together as a cohesive unit.

I expect our RBs, TEs, and WRs to be good -- possibly game-changing good. I'm not going to say we're going to see addition by subtraction based on who left, but I do think our offensive scheme will allow these guys to shine as much as possible.

Defensive line and linebackers should be good, with the potential to be a notch above or below that (either just fair or very good). Scheme will play a big role in their production, I think. As long as we don't revert to a Golding-esque approach to overcomplicating things, I'm reasonably confident in their ability to successfully impact a game.

So, summing up my thoughts:

1. Offensive line could be a strength or a concern
2. Ditto for QB play; other skill positions should be good to great
3. Secondary will need to gel quickly
4. Defense overall could range from average to very good

Edge rush and corner. I think if the tackles struggle we can scheme around it to an extent. Can’t hide a guy struggling at corner.
Cupboard should be stock at edge, but none of those guys are proven game changers at the collegiate level.

Maybe a bit outside the box from other replies, but our run game. If the big boys are moving people upfront it opens up so much of the play book. Teams having to account for Milroe's legs along with a stout back field allow us to work the middle of the field on teams loading the box just easier windows to throw. It also cuts down on opportunities for explosive teams to get more possessions to test our secondary.

I guess I look at things differently. Saban was a defensive coach and a legendary defensive mind.
He also had a patchwork staff for the last few years.

Now, we appear to have an schematic advantage on offense and continuity with regard to talent acquisition.

Despite how it may appear, there is a lot that can be improved on using the last three years as a measuring stick.

I am very confident and extremely excited for the coming year. I expect a lot of growth in the part of Milroe and masterful ball distribution. A guy like Tommy Reese is not even in the same universe as Kalen Debate.

I expect a powerful, explosive running game to complement our new 6th generation passing attack.

Defensively, Bama will be Bama

Regarding Georgia, I liken Georgia 2024 to Sonny Liston in 1964 and Deboer's Bama to Clay.
Sonny was an 8 to 1 favorite. But Clay utilized new boxing technology... so to speak. A combination of speed, toughness and innovation that was not yet on the radar

I speak from 50 years experience. Neither Georgia, nor Texas will be able to cope with what Deboer and Bama has in store.

Secondary and QB position.

This. No problem with Milroe being the starter going in, but he has to perform. He didn't exactly look spectacular our last few games...including over Georgia in the SECCG. A couple well timed big scrambles can't hide that.

I am.

I am really not very worried about the offensive side of the ball. Plenty of studs. I think that it will become apparent pretty quick that we have the best RB room in the nation.

We have a lot of speed, and playmaking ability at WR, and now with our head coach being a former WR that just coached a top 10 WR NFL draft pick last season-a lot to be excited about. If our talented freshmen come hot out of the gates, then watch out.

A lot of y'all are worried about Milroe, but I look for him to ball out under DeBoer. And if I am wrong, I think that Ty will ball out.

Defense is a question mark because of the new coaches, and depth, but there is plenty of elite talent. Injuries concern me more than anything. But I don't believe that they will have to be a dominating, suffocating defense with the offense that we will have. Just consistent, efficient, and timely.

Field and boundary corners. It is really only that.

They will get adequate safety play with several veterans despite losing a future NFL stud to the portal.

I believe Proctor and Formby will take over the tackle positions and thrive in a well constructed offense that does a better job of layering plays together to keep defenses off balance.

The corners are a huge concern. Losing two starting corners to the NFL can't go without some difficulties.

Need the defensive line to ball out the first half of the year. Will do nothing but help the secondary until they gel.

People still saying Milroe are just hopeless. The guy was was 6th in the Heisman, led Bama to an SEC championship win against a seemingly unbeatable UGA team, was MVP of that game, had one of the most iconic plays in Alabama history, and broke several records.

Now he has a great offensive mind to help coach him. I have zero questions about him. There is no reason not to expect him to improve. But guess what? He was good enough last year to win a national title. The team went to OT against the eventual national champion and lost on the last play of the game. Milroe didn't play well in that game, but then again, who played particularly well against Michigan? For the first time in his career he has a coach that believes in him and wants to have him play QB.

The *actual* concerns for the team are all on defense. RBS will be very good, WRs will be just fine, interior line is going to be the best in the league and I expect the OTs to be better. The further you go back in the defense the bigger the question marks get.
