I'm guessing this is mutual for Big 10/SEC teams dropping games due to expanding conference schedules.

Alabama/Ohio State hasn't been canceled. Neither has Alabama/Wisconsin.

UGA/UCLA and Auburn/UCLA were.

The reality is UCLA decided to keep a permanent game with Cal for future OOC. They apparently weren't wanting to play more than 10 P5's each season.

UGA didn't want to have 12 P5 opponents in a 12 game season (which they would have in 2026 if the UCLA game hadn't been on the schedule). UGA is fine with 11 of 12, but not 12 of 12.

I'm sure Auburn had a similar reason.

This is more of an issue with Pac-12 teams who went to the Big 10 wanting to keep rivalries alive with those who didn't come than teams who were already in the Big 10.

Most teams want to have one OOC game against a P5 type opponent.

UGA had 2 every year going forward and 3 in several years. We are okay with that with 4 OOC games (1 cupcake, 3 real games). We aren't with 3 OOC games (0 cupcakes and 3 real games). In order to get enough home games we're always going to have one cupcake on the schedule. The SEC going to 9 games is going to cause UGA to drop OOC games.

We'll still play more P5's on average than every other SEC teams. We're just not going to play all 12 games against P5 opponents.

Alabama doesn't have 3 P5's scheduled OOC for any future seasons either. And UGA still has multiple series with Clemson as well as FSU, OSU, NCSU, Louisville as well as GT every year.

We're going to lose some more of those games though because no SEC team is going to play 12 P5's in a year and if the SEC goes to 9 conference games, UGA has 3 future seasons where they'd have 12 P5 opponents if the SEC adds a conference game.

Sorry we scheduled so well for an 8 game conference schedule.

Well not really, that kind of scheduling is the norm for us.
