What academic programs are SEC schools known for?

For OU, some nationally top ranked programs are degrees in Atmospheric Sciences/Meteorology and Petroleum Geology/Engineering.

Makes sense with the National Weather Center being based out of Norman, tornadoes, and Oklahoma’s oil/natural gas based economy.

Would be interested in hearing others.

Despite what UTrans fans have spewed for a decade, all SEC schools are good universities with varied and good degree programs

Oklahoma is now part of that, quality school worth having

Indeed.

When those frickers were trying to block our path to the SEC, TU mouthpieces took a giant grundy on the whole conference for academics.

Now that they've followed "little brother" to the SEC, I doubt they want to be reminded of that fact.

I consider Auburn above average in most areas (although I don’t know squat about the Liberal Arts stuff) at the Undergraduate level. Things where they stand out are the Vet School (although the South has several good ones now) and more recently the Aviation School now that Delta is involved with it. Getting very niche, Auburn and UT (the real one in Knoxville) have very good physician MBA programs.

Auburn also has a really good engineering program. Architecture is great as well.

UGA's public affairs graduate programs are typically highly ranked. It was #3 at the time I graduated. It's currently at #4.

The vet school is #7.

Some of the graduate programs in education are top-10.

The law school is #20.

Full listing.

As for undergrad, the Insurance (Business) program is currently #1 and the Real Estate (Business) program is #4.

Elon Musk calls an Auburn Grad for permission to launch Space X. The gentleman and a couple other NASA employees/retirees have RV’s next to me in University Station.

On behalf of all my fellow Texans, I apologize for the two aggots who have tried to derail your thread. Their massive, though certainly justified, sense of inferiority means that Texas will be on their minds 24/7/365, so even legit straightforward topics like yours set them off. It's really sad.

Texas' engineering programs are ranked among the best in the nation and definitely at the top in Texas, especially in Petroleum Engineering.

Rant poster asks about top SEC degrees. Two Aggies immediately bring up Texas. Clockwork.

This explains why we top the list of earnings in the first 5 years from degree.

You are an idiot.

Go be stupid somewhere else.

Actually, Aggie degree plays better on average in year one, three, five, 10 and year 20

It’s an interesting diploma mill that has a more valuable degree at every measurable milestone post graduation

My kids are beyond college now. That "diploma mill" talking point was heard at Baylor, tu, and TCU during the college visit tour. It was so ignorant, rehearsed and tired that my kids were rolling their eyes at it.

I get it. Barista Sciences majors have to tell themselves something. That doesn't mean I'm not going to laugh at it.

Arkansas has a very strong Chicken Science program.

In fact the entire SEC shines in Chicken Science. Almost all the top programs are in the SEC.

OU has a great aviation program as does Auburn. Aerospace is actually the second largest industry in Oklahoma behind Oil and Gas. No doubt engineering has a role to play in both.

UK Opera Theater.

Absolutely incredible. The Mrs. and I hit at least one production each semester. Incredibly talented young people in that program.
