AJ McCarron had Eddie Lacy, TJ Yeldon, Kenyan Drake and Derrick Henry as RB's to hand the ball off to.
Jake Coker had peak Derrick Henry (2200 yards rushing) and Drake to hand the ball off to.
Milroe had Jase McClellan, Roydell Williams and... well himself... to hand the ball off to.
The reality is the quality of RB for Coker and McCarron warranted passing less. The guys at Bama last year were pretty good, but there's no Derrick Henry or Eddie Lacy there. I'm not sure there's even a TJ Yeldon caliber back there.
Correct-that is my point. Having a dominant rushing attack makes passing the ball much easier.

The problem is it doesn't look much better this year. Burton and Bond are gone (their two leading WR's last season) as well as their #3 pass catcher in Niblack the TE.
Their top 2 returning producers at WR are Prentice (314 yards) and Law (135 yards). They brought in a transfer from Washington who had 419 yards last year. The rest of the newcomers are true freshmen and redshirt freshmen.
It doesn't look promising that he'll have more WR help this season than last.
meh, Bernard is probably at least as good as Burton and Bond. I think that Law is really going to blossom in this offense, as well as the other young WRs (including a stud # 1 rated WR.) WR is the least of my worries with DeBoer at the helm.

There's not a lot of returning production, but the overall talent is better than it's been the past couple seasons. We'll have to see who steps up.

1? Ok... he CAN do one.

It's easier to have sufficient pass protection when you can hit a simple slant route... which Milroe cannot do

And you are clearly a homer with low expectations. I said that too

yeah I mean, you say plenty of dumb shite on here.

Word is, you guys have a secret QB that you have kept under wraps. Even though you have west coast pussies running your team, there is no way even DeBoer is stupid enough to start Milroe.
I’m optimistic about the new guy, whoever he is.

You really need some new material.

I probably do - but Milroe is clearly the worst QB we've had in years. Is he a good dude - yes, I believe he is. Is he 100% in and want to succeed? Yes, he is. Can he run and throw the deep ball - yes he can. But he remains the weakest QB we've had in years. I do hope the new staff can help him improve. I really do. But facts are facts and YOU are a homer

Maybe. Most of Bama’s QBs were significantly overrated, so it isn’t out of the realm of possibility.

I respect your opinion. However, when you say stuff like Bateman and Barnett are better passers than Milroe, you are whatever the opposite of a homer is, and you likely perceive the most reasonable of fans as homers.

I do believe those guys were better passers. It is what it is. Milroe isn't malicious in his intent - he wants to be great. Blake, on the other hand, had such an over-inflated opinion of himself that he was useless as a team player. Bateman, not the same level of talent. I can be objective about their weaknesses. And i am telling you, Milroe is not a good passer. Good dude. Incredible athlete. Not a good passer
ETA - he is not even the best passer on our current roster

If Bama’s staff is holding back on telling us who the new QB is, I’m kind of at a standstill. Don’t shoot the messenger.

Others have said it already, but this the exact same coversation LSU fans were having a year ago.
Inconsistent
Nuss is a better pure passer
Not a great decision maker
Even Milroe's stats are eerily similar to Jaden Daniel's first year in BR. I don't expect him to have 5,000 yards like JD, but given the work he's put into it, I do expect him to have a very good season. There's no real reason for him not to.

I believe he is committed. And I believe he has good character. I can't help but believe the new staff will help him. If he can get that midrange game going, this team could be good

Milroe is one of the worst QBs ever at Bama. Simpson will be the starter this fall.
