Sc was 2 wins away from the cws last year.. they got a terrible draw vs uf..
I'm not ready for that level of disdain yet. Let's see how this season pans out.

This is South Carolina baseball where we are one of the elites. Kingston hasn't done squat and has been here plenty of time. Hell Holbrooks recruiting was even better than Kingston. How many years you want to give him to dig the program into a deeper hole.

I mean...I think I could go either way. If they fire him then please don't just give Monte the job. If they keep him then I do truly believe the hitting can turn around this season. That last game vs OM was a damn good game by us, and the first game was too. Game 2 was good until it got away in the 8th.
Clemson who took two close games against us, just took 2 of 3 vs #6 Duke at Duke. We don't have the big wins yet, and they need to come soon, but we also have competed well despite not playing anywhere close to our best.

So I don't disagree that Holbrook won more than Kingston...
but this I will disagree with. Holbrook was the type to recruit several of the same type of players and put them out of position in the field. Petry/Messina/Casas are damn good players, better than anything Holbrook recruited (they arent showing it right now I know). I also think our arms are far more dynamic than they were when he was here. The SEC as a whole is just also better now than it was. Back then it was Vandy/UF/Us/OM/Arkansas. LSU was down for several years, as was some of the other SEC teams

I'll give credit to Kingston for this weekend though it hasn't changed my mind

It just bugs me a little that when we win...fans refuse to give him credit, and even say we won despite Kingston..then when we lose it is completely his fault.
atleast you gave him credit.

How much time are the " give Kingston time" fans willing to watch, our once elite program, fall further and further behind. Our play is extremely inconsistent and our recruiting is worse than it's ever been. Hoping it gets better is a joke.

I mean...we are 5-4 in conference. On pace for 15-12 going into the last series. Thats in line for a host spot. The SEC is far better now than it was during Tanners time, and winning on the road is hard.
Against top 16 (because that is where Bama is) we are 4-4. (top 5 Clemson 0-2, #3 Vandy 3-0, Bama 1-2). We made a super regional last year, and I still maintain the post season will determine Kingston's future. Tanner used to say, Win your series at home, and don't get swept on the road and you will be fine.
in SEC play from 04 to 09 Tanner in SEC play won 17,16,15,17,15,17 in conference. So it's not like Ray was always winning the SEC in the regular season, and we hosted in those 3 of those 6 years.
I know I am making an extensive case for a guy who has not had a ton of post season success, but I just think it's not productive to be yelling "Fire Kingston" after every loss. I want to see how this team continues to play

We aren't talking about a new coach the man has been here 7 years and we haven't sniffed that city in Nebraska once . His recruiting classes are the worst SC has had in decades but let's " see how it plays out".

I mean I stand by what I said. It was loud after OM, then we sweep Vandy (winning 6 in a row along the way) and it was quiet. We dropped the first game against Bama and the fire Kingston crowd got real loud. It's hard to demand perfection in baseball. This team is really talented, more talented that any holbrook squad imo. I want to see it play out.

Yet Holbrook had a better record and better recruiting classes and accomplished a super also so if we fired him why isn't Kingston held to the same standards?

He fired Holbrook too fast and hired this atrocity.
Kingston will be canned next week.
He literally makes so many bone headed moves.
He keeps brewer out of the lineup for months to replace him with a guy who has zero arm in center and not a tremendous bat.
His teams would never be a shining example of baserunning or fielding.
The guys have horrible approaches at the plate and the pitching coach is terrible..
Just so many things..

I have it on good authority that Kingston is gone

It's apparent now. And, just to reiterate a point.
Having Brewer sit on that bench for months now seems to be such a "kingston" decision.
I find it hard to believe that brewer was so bad that this Breinling guy, with absolutely no arm, is that much better.
Kingston looks to not see talent staring him in the damn face. For that alone he should be canned..

Is there a date or anything they might wait for and it’s cheaper? Or can we rip the bandaid off now
Posted on 6/2/24 at 4:48 pm to SOSFAN
Time for him to go and the only call we need to make is to Landon Powell.

I think June 1 was the date his buyout dropped.
