Gamecocks win the 3rd game. Taking 1 of 3 vs the #3 team. Makes us 4-2 vs teams ranked #3 which is impressive in its own right.
It was a rough week overall and we will absolutely drop out the rankings, but winning 1 of 3 vs a top 5 team isn't really a bad thing. Pair that with the midweek though and it feels bad.
That said, UF is fighting to not get swept by Mizzou, State is fighting to not lose the series to UGA. Bad weeks happen. We just have to quit stacking up bad weeks

6-6 in the league puts us tied for 6th. In the current rankings our first 4 series have been against #3, #6, #25, Unranked. Obviously it would have been good to win the Unranked and #25 series, as we went 2-4 in those games, but they were road games.
Our RPI is #17 and ELO is #19 so the metrics like us a little better than the rankings.
It's been a struggle to this point with a lot of games we feel we should have won. Totally understandable. Had A&M swept us I probably wouldn't be saying anything, but the team did fight to get that win. We get #13 UNC, and #24 UF. If we can win 3 of those games then I think we are back on the right path.
*and for the record, I understand the apathy..I had it with Holbrook and Frank. I haven't quite reached it with Kingston only because I think this team has the talent to be good. I am sure by the end of the season I will get there, but until that point ill be positive

Honestly...stuff happens for UNC. They have been raking the ball, so to hold them to one run was probably both great pitching...and stuff happens
The bad news is that UF lost their midweek...and when they do that they win the weekend series...so could be a long weekend if that trend holds
But honestly, midweek games are pretty meh as long as you win 80% of them, but I am convinced that midweek games against good teams (Clemson, UNC, etc) only help you (unless youre UF playing FSU)

We accomplished this! Regardless of how this game ends (currently 5-11).
Tough series next week, Have to beat the el cid, but if we can take 2 of 3 vs Arkansas we will be in great shape. Even if we only get 1 of 3 I think that is a success

We have to find a way to put offense and defense together. It is unacceptable for a Gamecock baseball team to give up 19 runs in 2 games. We are used to giving up 19 runs in 3 series total. Baseball today is not any tougher than in the years past. Glad we beat a very overrated Florida team but if we play like this against Arkansas we will get ran out of the stadium.
Side note: I might be a little more picky than most as I've been going to our games since Bobby Richardson was our coach. The only person on here that I personally know that probably knows baseball more than I is bleedgarnet but I grew up with him and know he and his family were heavily involved in baseball ( I played but spent more time competing national in swimmin... I actually showed Michael Phelps coach and USA Olympic swim coach, Bobby Bowman, the butterfly stroke....he grew up with me and bleedgarnet....that's my claim to fame lol
