Pictures from days gone by.. Rant Edition
Had pilot Lewis Benscotter not flown too high on that fateful January 1980 recruiting flight with Coach Bo Rein, accidentally asphyxiating them both, there would have been no:
Jerry Stovall
Bill Arnsparger
Mike Archer
Curley Hallman
Gerry Dinardo
Nick Saban
Les Miles
Coach O
Brian Kelly,
at LSU at least. Rein might have been at LSU 10+ years. Who knows where all those others would have ended up.
His 1980 death caused a mind-blowing change in the future space/time continuum and in the college football (and pro for that matter) coaching landscape.
Saban would have gone elsewhere (eventually) from Michigan State, and possibly never ended up in the SEC.
All because Benscotter chose to fly a little higher in January 1980.
Eerie.
