“After taking time to pray and reflect, I have made the decision to resign from my position with Auburn football to pursue other opportunities. I love Auburn, the players and AU family with all my heart, but this decision is what is best for me, my wife and sons. I am extremely grateful for the coaching opportunity given to me first by Coach Malzahn and most recently by Coach Freeze. These past five years on the Plains have been nothing short of incredible,”

Heard he was asked to leave. “Impropriety,” was the word that was used. Resign to save him and program face.

Not shocking given the rumors that were floating around. I just hope it doesn’t point towards some of the deeper issues that were being alluded to earlier in the week.

Great Auburn man. I am saddened by this news, but understand it.

Well there is the first domino. I think we will get another job fairly soon, probably in the pros. Def seems like something happened behind the scenes though..

Taking another job?
He and Ethridge were given the opportunity to look for other Jobs Caddy has not done that.
I think Ethridge will end up in a smaller conference.

I mean maybe this all works out.. but both coordinators, Caddy & Etheridge all out? After 1 year? Color me a little skeptical of this program right now

Tough situation. Officially, it's a resignation. Hugh Freeze will move forward and continue to build his staff in his vision. I'd expect the next OC to also coach running backs.

There’s some iffy stuff that went on behind the scenes. I don’t know exactly what it was, but I was told it’d be an awful look for the program.
I expect Nix and Kiffin to be the OC AND DC, Nix will coach RBs.

247 is implying this isn’t performance related. What’s the truth here?

I’m skeptical as well, but in fairness to Freeze we are very much still in a transitional period. The optics aren’t great, but I’m not surprised to see some significant and ongoing changes given the state of the program that he walked into.

The rumor is they were practicing the baby making process.

Assuming it was instead of being Fired Freeze requested it?

Rumor- pure rumor- is that it was something he did. “Impropriety,” was the word used. Hence the resignation.
Flame away- I’m just passing along a rumor on an internet message board. I think that’s sort of the point of these things——gossip or something like it.
