1992 Tennessee is my homer pick. Lost 2 games by 1 point each (when Johnny Majors came back from open heart surgery too early). Lost the other game by 7 (to eventual NC Bama). So, that's 3 losses by a total of 9 points. All they needed was Fulmer to stick the knife in Majors' back to complete the 9-3 season. Finished #12 in the AP.
Ended up costing Georgia a spot in the inaugural SECCG. That's the game when Heath Shuler was put on the map.

Jordan's Bulls started the season 8-3 in one of their championship years. I was on a rec league softball team that started 8-3 and we ended up mercy ruling everybody in the playoffs. There have been some great 8-3 teams in the history of organized sports, but 2023 LSU football takes a back seat to none of them. GREAT team!
The 1927 Yankees started 8-3-1. How are we treating the tie for these purposes?

Babe Ruth is no Jayden Daniels. Tie goes to LSU!
