Kinda crazy how high coaching salaries have gotten - over the last 10 years or so especially.

Gus Malzahn is the ultimate testament to the abilities of Jimmy Sexton.

Auburn realizing they still have to pay Gus $21.5 million a year on top of this.

In some respects. He's a terrible talent evaluator, he's a terrible talent developer, he's a poor PR guy, he's a good pre-game scripter but awful at adjusting. QBs go to him to die. He doesn't think offensive line is important. Receivers are not going to go to the league playing for him.
He knows the game, but he's a big reason Auburn has a Sunbelt roster.

Damn and right after blowing a 26 point lead, where have I seen this before

When LSU hired Saban from Michigan State, he had a $1.2 million salary and was one of the highest paid head football football coaches in the country. It’s crazy how much coaches salaries have increased in the last twenty years.

Really remarkable. I vividly remember the national media, and rival fans alike, putting Bama on blast for giving Saban the salary he received when he got here.
Crazy numbers these days.

That's more than Richt was making in 2014.

Kirby's first contract at UGA was "only" 3.75 million.

Lolz, not even close. That was his total due for his departure. This isn't Brian Kelly or Jimbo.

Gus is racking it up.

He's an average coach at best.
He runs a solid/clean program, but he really lacks in player evaluation and development. Oh and he can't recruit OL to save his life.

No one gets paid more for mediocrity than Mr. Coach Gus Malzahn

I know its not a huge factor but I truly believe that sports salaries for both professional players and college coaches is part of the inflation issue.
Maybe not a cause but definitely an indicator at the very least.
