Is anyone surprised they turned out to be grifters. Stands to reason they are tight with Freeze.

I'm a little surprised. I don't see how you could do this to someone you supposedly cared about. I'm sure there are two sides, but this seems pretty suspect.

Do you think your opinion on the matter is too good for the other thread?

Pretty sure Touhy was already pretty wealthy with all the taco bells he owns.
not sure what he gained from the whole Oher deal but if they still have some kind of control over him than that's wrong and should be ended immediately or should have been ended the day he was drafted into the NFL and could support himself
If they controlled some of Oher's wealth after he went pro than that is a pretty bad look

Based on the Touhy response, and just what a lawyer friend said, I kind of think the truth is somwhere in the middle of this thing.
He's worth several hundred million. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to try to make a few hundred thousand off of Oher. Sean says they couldn't adopt him because he was 18 and since he was an Ole Miss booster, Michael couldn't go to Ole Miss and live with them without the conservatorship. This rift between them all seems to have started with how he was portrayed in the movie and has gotten worse over the last three years.

They were rich before they rescued Orr. Remember they owned all the Taco Bell’s in Memphis.

This. Adult adoption is legal and relatively easy in TN. BS any lawyer told him it wasn't.

gotten worse over the last three years.
Hasn’t played since 2017.
His contracts in NFL while playing he made
$34.17 million with $19.3 million guaranteed. His last payment was for $500K from the panthers.
Could it be he wasn’t very smart with his money and is starting to run low? Is that why he’s come out now with all this? Also I believe before he went public he asked these people if they give him a certain amount of money”what he thought he was worth” he wouldn’t go public.
Appears he didn’t get what he was asking out of them.

That poor victim of evil ol' Whitey.
Michael Oher was a grown arse man playing io the NFL when that movie was made. He had to sign on the dotted line at least 100 times.
He had PLENTY OF MONEY to hire competent legal counsel. Don't hate on the Touhy family because he was too lazy, stupid, or tight-fisted to hire counsel.

Why is this all being brought up like 14 years after the movie came out? I mean its not like the movie came out yesterday.
Did Michael burn through all his NFL money or something?
