Auburn finished 19th and 21st in recruiting the last two years under Harsin, Freeze did no better.

Go take a look at the contents of those classes. Especially take note of the linemen (or lack therof).

Rankings don't always tell the story. But you know that.

The last HS coach never kicked Alabama's arse, he just had a horseshoe stuck up his arse and pulled off two miracle wins over Bama. He did have a solid win over Bama in 2017.

That's a lot of words to say "Saban was outcoached with far inferior talent"

It's tRant, that should be expected.

Freeze has shown he is at Auburn to work his arse off. Which is a 180 from Auburn's previous coach. With that said, most coaches in the SEC work their arse off. Auburn will hopefully have a good season next year, but we all know it will take 2-3 years to be competitive with the top teams. And only the best coaches can sustain success once they get there. We shall see with Freeze.

I found this posted on another board. This is a copy and paste....

It appears that Auburn moved so much, more because of number of commits, rather than ranking of those commits. And yes, I know the ranking is somewhat subjective.

Another poster posted the other day that Harsin had five 4 star recruits and two 3 star recruits committed when he was fired. Now the On3 consensus recruiting board indicates Auburn has seven 4 stars and twelve 3 star commits. So higher per player ranking then, than now.

I have no illusions. Hugh can recruit. And it ain’t money or hookers. The question is how important is a freshman class if they can transfer after one year.

I don’t think Freeze sees the two as mutually exclusive. I think you need both high school and portal kids. At least that’s what his strategy is. It’ll be interesting to see how it all shakes out. I can see why Kiffin is doing what he is doing and I can also see why Freeze is doing what he’s doing. I don’t think anybody knows really what the answer is at this point.

Kiffin recruits 50% from of the portal. He doesn't oversign HS kids on purpose.

Y’all keep saying this but you currently have 3 commits from the portal. You have a lot of ground to make up

Meh he filled the class with several JUCOs and pure volume and numbers pushed the class rankings up. A couple 4 stars was all that was needed to push ahead of programs like Texas Tech, Michigan State and Louisville he recruit solely 3 star players.

Good flip from Ohio State on DB from GA but know nothing about that kid. Was Georgia or Bama recruiting him heavily? The kid from Highland Home plays in a small classification in a very rural area and none of the elite programs were really after him so I have my doubts.

Freeze got a lot of OL and DL in this class and that is refreshing. I don’t care where we are ranked, that’s a better class than we’ve had in a while based o. That alone. Neither Gus nor Hairston could recruit the line of scrimmage worth a shite.

You know what’s disturbing?

Saban has been eating Little Debbie for years and not one person has condemned him over it.

Hope you can look at yourself in the mirror Bama fans.

Lsu averaged a class rating of 6.5 during that same time span.

It is more about coaching than recruiting. How many #1 classes has Saban had, how about the recruiting rankings of the teams he lost to or almost lost?

He's done it the past two years. I assume he will keep doing so.

Congrats. During that timespan, you won the NC in 2019. We got one in 2010. We choked away one in 2013 and you got shut-out in 2011.

We won the West in 2010, 2013, 2017. You won the West in 2011, 2019, and 2022.

Saban’s 193–27 at bama & he was awful in the pros. Recruiting > coaching.
