Salter is Vice President of PR at MSU.
This is the only official statement.
Leach was airlifted from Starkville to UMC earlier Sunday. He is in critical condition. No other information has been officially released.
There are rumors that he suffered a major cardiac event.

quote:State’s official Twitter has a statement as well. It’s serious enough that they’ve placed the DC in charge of the team for now.
Mississippi State University Head Football Coach Mike Leach had a personal health issue at his home earlier today (Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022). That issue led to a decision to transfer Coach Leach to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson by ambulance. That is the extent of information that MSU has available regarding Coach Leach's condition, and the university will make no other comment at this time other than to say that the thoughts and prayers of the university are with Mike and Sharon and their family.

for them taking him to Jackson it has to be fairly serious otherwise he would have stayed at the local or nearby hospital. God Speed.

Damn.
Hopefully he is getting excellent care and recovers quickly.

Hope he’s alright….but, if he had a “personal health issue” why broadcast on social media?

Probably because it's serious.

Because it has been swirling on social media for quite a while. He has been in obvious pulmonary distress in several public appearances, going back quite a while.
Example of me pointing it out a month ago LINK

Bc it’s serious enough that they had to place someone else in charge of the team for the time being.

and he is the HC of a program that is still playing FB. Would be kind of obvious when they have FB practice and he is absent.

These rumors have been going around for at least 3-4 weeks, and he did not look good on the sideline in the Egg Bowl.
Not that we're entitled to know what the situation is, I'm just surprised it has kinda hung out as a rumor with no real confirmation of anything for that long.

Coach Leach is to be protected at any cost. The man is a national treasure in front of a camera. Wishing him a speedy recovery.
It's gotta be bad if State is sending their coach to TSUN Medical centre.
