I will bite....
Because a coach gets fired at a higher level is irrelevant. Politics, etc could have been involved with those careers.
He was fired from Baylor by his pupil (Aranda). We don't know the story but those two are very close so no telling what was behind closed doors. Excluding Arky there were other large schools pursuing him.
Coach Freeze again with a good hire.

His color looked totally off to me. Kinda jaundiced.

It’s very relevant. Could there be circumstances where he’s a good coach and got fired for other reasons? Yes. But we don’t know that. If you can provide solid evidence that it was purely political then it becomes irrelevant.
Also he didn’t get fired at a higher level. He got fired at a lower level. That was my point.

The other one was GT. Both below us in terms of hiring. Arkansas fans were not overjoyed with him either.
You seem like a guy that’s only wanting to look at the positives so I don’t think this back and forth will be productive.

People can be as excited as they want. We were promised a long list of great coaches that wanted to come coach at Auburn. We hired two coordinators that were not having success in their most recent positions. We didn’t go hire guys away from other jobs where they were currently experiencing success. Does that mean the guys can’t be successful at AU? Not at all. They just aren’t the type of hires that will get me excited; especially after Freeze built up expectations.

Something Bryan Matthew’s pointed out is that these two hires allows Freeze to be as active recruiting as he needs to be. Both guys are veteran coaches that can run their side of the ball.
Even if we’re not blown away by Roberts, at least Freeze can hit the trail and get the jimmy and joes that he’ll need to put a good defense on the field

Roberts knows what is doing. He is The Godfather of something after all.. I will be looking into tape just to see what he does well, and doesn’t do well. Because he still got fired for something.
This video is bullish but there will be many more tape to look at

The 2 coordinators are very solid coaches. Very schematically strong. Which we needed to go with this staff. I’m not sure what coordinator would be considered homeruns if these 2 aren’t homeruns.
Pressure offense and pressure defense. Now need a strong special teams coordinator that likes solid play in the kicking game and exciting return game.

Yeah, not sure why he did that. Especially to Auburn fans. I'm in the camp of under promise and over deliver. Freeze made it sound like we were definitely going to be getting some great coordinators. Not one that was in the unemployement office due to a failure at a lesser program.

Just curious if you could actually name a guy who’d get you to buy in (doesn’t appear you can). I like the Montgomery hire as OC… I’m less sure on Roberts, but he’s had success and was being perused by other P5 programs.
These hires are solid… not grand slams by any stretch, but both appear to be experienced coaches with established schemes. They’re not learning on the job, or hired bc of their recruiting abilities with the hopes they can actually coach.

Freeze was busy selling himself because he knew only half the fanbase wanted him. He had a pitch “I can turn programs around fast” but that’s only half the battle right? Assuming he does turn us around, the next round of questions will be asked

Honestly the most media attention a coordinator gets is when they are hired and when they are fired or when they are doing terrible at their job. So far I haven't seen much terrible about when they are doing their specialty. That's what matters most.

I really don't think these hires were Freeze's first choices. It seemed from the introductory press conference he was hinting at Longo for OC. Who knows if he was offered or how it went. Maybe the analytics AU used weren't good for him.
DC seems like Odom and Arnett were in the hunt but timing was bad for both. Seems like Freeze (or the analytics firm) really wants a 3-3-5 type defense that Odom, Arnett, and Roberts run. Kelly would have probably ran a similar system. His defenses at FSU were not good and he had top talent there.

That is nothing more than your impression. Using that logic, Al Borges was a terrible hire, among many others. Just because you are good in your field doesn't mean you have the ability to determine a good football coach hire, perception or otherwise. Both of the coaches have documented success, and had multiple other options for their next job. Probably less than 1% of all coaches at the college level or above have not been fired in their careers.

If you’re just wanting names that would be homerun hires I can do that:
Jim Leonhard
Germy Asparagus Pruitt
Arnett
Muschamp

I 100% believe Arnett was about to be named until Leach got worse, and Moo State told him that he’d be the head guy soon.

Arnett is currently the head coach of an SEC West program…. Pruitt is about to have a show cause…. Leonard may be getting the Purdue job… and Muschamp is in the playoffs with the best defense in the country.
Any realistic candidates you wanna throw out there?

No thanks for your attached uneducated Lowspark speculation
