Your critique is that he has not won a title in the past, so he likely won’t win in the future. Complete nonsense. The only coach in the country who has won a title after winning a title at a prior school is Nick Saban.

My critique is he hasn’t even come close in 19 years

Here are all the national championship coaches since 2000 and how many years at a P5 school they coached before their championship

Kirby- 5
Saban- 7
Orgeron- 2
Dabo- 7
Meyer- 3
Jimbo- 3
Chizik- 3
Miles- 6
Brown- 15
Carroll- 3
Tressel- 1
Coker- 0
Stoops- 1

As you can see here, the only one close to Kelly’s 13 years is Mack Brown. And even then, Mack Brown had five NY6 Bowl wins before his championship. Not to mention Brown’s first P5 job was UNC, which is a far tougher place to win than ND.

A coach winning a national championship after 19 years of zero significant wins would be truly unprecedented, which is why I doubt BK.

He thinks he has some sort of big “gotcha” when the coach before BK that everyone in the SEC mocked and called “special Ed” put together one of the best teams of all time. But yea— no way a quality
Coach like BK (who was always hampered for resources and recruiting at Cincinnati and Notre Dame) could put together CFP level team
In a couple years.

Somebody should research how many schools have won a NC with their last 3 coaches. I would think it’s a very very small amount. It’s almost like LSU has the resources and fertile recruiting grounds to be successful.
