Yeah funny how sharing a national title with USC that year is no big deal but this is.

LSU won that championship on the field. USC won it from AP voters sitting on their arse. Ultimately, its neither teams fault that Oklahoma was mistakenly chosen to play instead of USC. Oklahoma should have been done after getting blown out in the B12 championship game.

LSU has been to more National Championship games than Ole Miss has been to NY6 bowls?

I would have seriously lost that bet.

Not sure who you're referring to, but I don't know a single LSU fan who remembers that year being fine with USCw deciding that they should share the championship.

Like the SEC, the Pac-whatever agreed to the BCS structure. I don't deny that USC was a talented team, but they weren't selected to go to the big game. If they weren't going to accept the BCS committee choices they shouldn't have agreed to it in the first place. Dems da breaks.

LSU and OU were selected to go, USC was not. End of story.

Speaking for me and mine: most of us are still spitting mad about that fake USC "co-championship" BS every time some idiot brings it up.

So

They were co-Champs of the West in 2003. They had one heckuva team. I have never understood why so many in our fan base are bothered by that. We won the game and the tie-breaker. So let them celebrate a fine team they had.

This. The SEC recognizes both teams as divisional champions. The tie-breaker is just to do decide who gets to play for the conference championship.

So stop being so butthurt over something that happened 19 years ago, co-champs.

USC didn’t declare themselves champions AP Poll did. Coaches were required to vote with Bcs regardless of who they thought was the better team.

Didn’t mean to make you spitting mad co champ. Sorry I struck a nerve co champ. I’ll try and be more considerate of your feelings in the future co champ.

I remember that. Doug Buckles stepping on Eli's foot to trip him on 4th down. No telling how it turns out if it didn't happen but that's why you play the game. I have no problem with them declaring themselves co champions in the West that year. Exact record as the other. Not sure I would have hung a banner, though.

LSU won the 2003 MNC in the Sugar Bowl. That is more impressive than your 1/3 record.

Is there an "official" SEC award for a Division Championship? If so, LSU would own it.

If Ole Miss claimed it as "Co-Division Champ"?

Sources say it's already been printed and rigged for hanging. It will go up exactly 1 second after it's official.
