Y’all need to go back and listen to what he said. He said he thinks mason will pop this year , kinda like the freshman tight end from Georgia did. He didn’t compare the two , he was just using an example of a freshman tight end that contributed immediately.
He didn’t compare a single aspect of their game or talent level . Didn’t say that mason would have a year like Brock either. He just used him as an example of a freshman tight end that contributed . That’s not a position that freshman typically play a ton, he didn’t have many examples to choose from

Not a good look for Cajunbama in this thread but saying that this Taylor guy is going to hit the same way Bowers did is the most flaming of takes.
Best TE in the country and probably the best freshman TE season in CFB history. Not something you just throw out there.

Take it up with Brian Kelly.

"Well, probably the No. 1 surprise of camp is that we hit a home run with Mason Taylor, the son of NFL Hall of Famer Jason Taylor,” Kelly said Thursday. “He's been outstanding. I've been blessed. I've had some great tight ends. I've got seven of them right now who are active in the NFL. And Mason Taylor is as good as any freshman tight end that I've had."

Yet all I did was link to Twitter and crying and gnashing of teeth ensued.

That’s really not what he meant if you listen to it. He’s just saying that this guys the best freshman tight end he’s had and that he will get some early playing time like Brock did

if that quote is accurate it sounds like BK was saying he’s gonna have a similar impact

Sometimes I feel sorry for this guy... How sad your life must be to need multiple personalities to sit on a website and troll all day. Honestly, I feel for you.

Exactly. I felt it was newsworthy and should be discussed on the rant, but because I am the poster that brought it here the melt ensued.
Bowers was the best freshman TE I have ever seen. It’s hard to compare him to any college TE because he is so unique.

I think he was making the point that Taylor is a diamond in the rough.
He could do half of what Bowers did and it'd be as much as any freshman TE in LSU history. Not a high bar, but the player is a bit underrated.

fair enough i suppose. but now that he’s made this comment Taylor’s already more well known than Bowers was this time last year. We thought he’d be TE3

Last year, at this time, bowers was some unknown freshman
Literally the #2 TE in the Country.

Six pages and odds are, not one poster has mentioned that you are about as cajun as Gary Danielson.

quote:Exactly. You can't go off about a TE that isnt even in the top 10, a low 3*, and be all "He's the next Gronk" without blow-back.

This is true but nobody thought he was gonna start, much less have the greatest freshman TE season in history. For three reasons:
1. Before ‘21 we barely used the TEs
2. Gilbert and Washington were already there
3. There were rumors he would red-shirt. We thought he would be our 3rd or 4th TE. I actually remember one of our beat writers saying we might see him get snaps at RB since he won’t play much at TE
