Was taping a segment for Hog Special with Muss, and happened to see Devo getting ready to return to the practice floor. Glad he’s back. A great young man.

quote:I thought the same thing. They seem hesitant to give it to them over the top when they get inside position with a height advantage. It happened a lot against Troy.
AB and the whole team need to focus more on getting Mitchell twins the ball on the block early in the shot clock.

quote:Not sure how strong the Sun Belt is overall this year, but I'd be absolutely shocked if they aren't playing for a conference title this year.
Troy beat Florida State. It wouldn't surprise me if this was a tournament team.

It sounds like he got upset, needed a cool down, and has returned. If that is the case then everyone handled this the way they should have.
It happens to us all. Sometimes you just need to take a step back.

Pittman should be following muss around all season to learn everything he can..... Muss just seems to always do the right thing. He could also teach Pittman a thing or two about game prep

It's early, but Florida St. is playing pretty well right now against #5 Purdue. ESPN 2 if interested.

South Carolina may lose some conference games by 100.

TREVON BRAZILE, ARKANSAS (R2 TO R1)
quote:
All of the talk was about Arkansas’ freshmen coming into the season, but with Nick Smith starting on the injured list and Jordan Walsh and Anthony Black getting off to slower starts, it was Trevon Brazile who had the most NBA buzz to start the year. He opened with a 21-point 12-rebound game that showcased both his athleticism and face-up skill. While he’s been up-and-down since, there have been flashes of the same versatile potential, including a dunk against South Dakota State that went viral. Arkansas is very much still a team trying to figure out everyone’s roles, especially with Smith just returning to the line-up, so it will be interesting to see if Brazile can establish any sort of consistency. But, there’s no doubt that he has already taken his stock to new levels with his emerging combination of size, physical gifts, and floor-spacing potential.

5. NICK SMITH | CG | ARKANSAS
quote:
Key Attributes: Scoring, shot-making, playmaking potential, defense, competitiveness
quote:
Following the reclassifications in the 2022 recruiting class, Nick Smith climbed to the top and won the No. 1 title in the final rankings update.
Due to injury, Smith didn't appear in his first game until the Razorbacks last game with Troy, so it may be perplexing to some that he ranks so highly on the draft board. But frankly it is due to the years of watching and evaluating Smith at the high school level paired with the fact no one has outdone what he built leading into this season.
He's a 6-foot-4 combo guard who is hyper-competitive and hyper-aggressive with an endless amount of confidence. He's as good of a scorer as anyone in this class while also being able to pass and create for others. He also brings as much energy on the defensive end as he does on offense. One knock on his game exiting high school is the volume in which he plays leading to the number of shots he takes and how much the ball is in his hands.
Coming off months of injuries, it's likely he comes out rusty and will have an uphill battle ahead to get back into rhythm. Regardless, his dynamic two-way impact that he has been on display for years still gets him the nod inside the top five for now.

12. ANTHONY BLACK | CG | ARKANSAS
quote:
Key Attributes: Athleticism, playmaking, rebounding, slashing
quote:
Anthony Black has been one of the biggest stock-risers in the last two weeks following a spectacular showing in Maui.
He posted back-to-back 26-point games against Louisville and Creighton and has leaped ahead of many of his peers.
He’s got size and athleticism, a terrific passer in space and is an improved shooter.
Shooting hasn’t ever been a strength of Black’s and his position is still in question. Some project Black as a true point, but his 3.4 assists to 3.1 turnovers a game can draw hesitancy.
There’s a lot to track with Black, but there’s no denying the talent or denying the fun of imagining what he could ultimately become.

Stats: 14.1 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 3.4 APG, 2.3 SPG

18. Trevon Brazile | C | Arkansas

RICKY COUNCIL AND TREVON BRAZILE, ARKANSAS
quote:
It's impossible to talk about a really good Arkansas team without mentioning both Ricky Council IV and Trevon Brazile. With Nick Smith Jr. working his way back from an injury, Council has stepped up to lead the team in scoring (20.1 points per game). Isolating Council in the middle of the floor and letting him get to his spots has been good offense for Arkansas all year long. That won't change when Smith gets the cobwebs cleared.
Brazile is still struggling to be consistently productive every single night, but his flashes are as tantalizing as anyone in the country. Brazile (11.9 points, 6.7 rebounds) changes Arkansas' ceiling when he's attacking the glass and stretching the floor.

1/17 from three. Yikes.

McDermott is such a good coach. Just always finds ways to get something going even on what might be their worst 3P shooting game of the season.

Texas has a good defense but so many of these 3s are good looks, really just having a big off night.
Although Creighton's bench is very suspect.

Finally Scheierman hits a three. 1/10 now.
Might be a good finish. Creighton did this same thing with Arizona in Maui, got down decent but kept it close and made it a coin flip late.
