Can we trade NC State for Missouri?
Posted on 1/25/22 at 8:02 am to War_Eagle17
Who?! Seriously, NC State is rarely a thought.
Times have changed. Rather than TV markets, I think you’ll see additions based on alumni size, brand recognition, etc.

If possible, sure. UNC might eventually join the SEC if the ACC falls apart, but I can't see UVA doing so. They'll look at the SEC as slumming it, academically. I think they'd bolt for the Big 10. In fact, I think that was part of the strategy behind the Big 10 taking Maryland.
I don't really want to expand again, but if we have to, I hope it's east. If we can't get UNC or UVA, I'd like some combination of NC State/VT/WVU.

This mega conference shite sucks.

I agree that 16 will be a temporary #. Maybe that's why nothing about scheduling has been solidified yet.

Just quickly looking at the numbers posted from both alumni associations, the University of Alabama has 35,000 active alumni members. NC State claims they currently has just under 248,000. Sounds like NC State might be cooking the books there.
NC State has a $22 million deficit in their athletic department budget. I know they've done some facility improvements, but that doesn't say much for their ability to bring in money.
Raleigh and Durham together rank as a top 25 TV market, in a state with no SEC presence. That would certainly count for a renegotiation for TV contracts regardless of brand recognition etc.

I see 4 different scenarios playing out:
1. Status quo
2. SEC to form a 24 team league as the rest of the country joins a CFB Alliance with four 12 team divisions.
SEC West:
Arkansas
Missouri
Oklahoma
Oklahoma St
Texas
Texas A&M
SEC South:
Alabama
Auburn
LSU
Mississippi St
Ole Miss
Vanderbilt
SEC Southeast:
Clemson
Florida
Florida St
Georgia
Georgia Tech
South Carolina
SEC East:
Kentucky
NC State
Tennessee
UNC
Virginia
Virginia Tech
PAC 12
Arizona
Arizona St
Colorado
California
Oregon
Oregon St
Stanford
UCLA
USC
Utah
Washington
Washington St
Big 12
Baylor
Boise St
BYU
Houston
Iowa St
Kansas
Kansas St
Memphis
SMU
TCU
Texas Tech
UCF
Big 10
Illinois
Indiana
Iowa
Michigan
Michigan St
Minnesota
Nebraska
Northwestern
Ohio St
Penn St
Purdue
Wisconsin
ACC
Boston College
Cincinnati
Duke
Louisville
Maryland
Miami
Notre Dame
Pittsburgh
Rutgers
Syracuse
Wake Forest
West Virginia
3. SEC current 16 teams (including OU and Texas) add 16 other teams regardless of region to create a 32 teams CFB League.
4. Conferences completely disband, 32 teams create a CFB League

Does anyone really know why in tf the SEC added Mizzou? They are nothing, 0, zilch, in everything they do. They’ve added nothing to the conference except boredom

As far as pealing off an ACC school, first, the grant of rights has to go away. But then, as to Virginia Tech and NC State, if you want either of those, it would probably have to be in a scenario where their fellow state school goes to the Big Ten. UNC and NC State share a governing board, if I recall correctly, so NC State won't be making any independent moves. UVA had to lobby hard to get Virginia Tech into the ACC, so Tech will not stab them in the back.

Boredom can come at a pretty high cost when all you have is excellence and excitement in a conference. We are a good outlier, keep writing them checks.

How do you do a 24 team schedule?
