I love Andy’s story but he is a horrible play-by-play guy and his interviews in other AU programming suck. They are low-energy and formulaic.
I listen to Blackerby’s podcast from time to time and his voice is perfectly suited for the job. He’s a good interviewer, has a good insight understanding of the game, he’s young and excitable. Surely someone in the halls at the AU Athletic Department or the media rights holder sees this? He would be a perfect voice of the Auburn Tigers

I like the podcast, but I disagree that Blackerby has a voice for play-by-play. He sounds like a kid. (Or maybe it is just the fact that I'm about 20 years older than him.)
I agree with you about Burcham. But there has to be someone else for the job.

Nothing against Zac, but that's a hard no. He also has some bad takes on his podcast from time to time. Like I said, it's not personal, but that's a no from me.

Personally I think Burcham does a good job with basketball and baseball - but for some reason he doesn't do as good of a job with football.

See I think basketball is his worst. Obviously I want my announcer to be biased to my team but I also don’t want him complaining about calls over and over again the whole time

I feel the same way. My wife and I love listening to him and Sonny call the basketball games. He really does suck at football.

Is that real? That guy might have the most annoying voice and delivery of any podcaster I've ever listened to. Lord, if Brown got named starting QB, listening to that guy going on about "the baby goat" would be insufferable.

Sonny the other day: “They need to drive the ball when that official is near, he always calls the darn foul… I probably should not have said that”.
I actually like Burcham for BB. I think he brings the right amount of excitement and really gets into the game (and thus can turn homerish) but can’t seem to get it up for the football games. Maybe it will change this year…

AUVet, 100 agree. He argues every call that goes against us and won’t let it go. I used to think he was good but time to move on.

Andy Burcham is a terrible football call guy. Basketball and baseball are fine in my book, but his football is the worst ive heard
Please for the love of God, Auburn. Find someone else for football. And no, Blackerby isnt a viable option. At least not for another couple decades

I agree that Andy is not good right now. However, I think most people forget how bad Rod sounded when he took over for Fyfe.
I honestly have never been that much of a Burcham fan, but I don’t think the book is closed quite yet.

Wish we could somehow get Wes Durham to take the gig. Know he has ACC contracts, but I like him and he’d be close enough to Atl to handle his Falcons gig. He split with Ga Tech and Falcons for years

Especially with regards to Sonny.
Not only is Sonny and “elder statesman” and right up there in the category of legendary Auburn Coaches, but I really enjoy listening to his live reactions & instinctive analysis on the radio call of Auburn games.
I listen to a lot more games on the Auburn Network audio feed than I actually view live on whatever tv network is broadcasting any given game.
He may not deliver the most immediate and precisely timed instantaneous feedback in real time of the fast paced development of any given game call?…
But, you give him a few extra seconds to breakdown & then explain what he honestly sees with his extraordinary depth of knowledge and insights of the game?
…I trust Sonny to tell me EXACTLY what’s going on…and he won’t “sugar-coat” either.

Not Andy (Brad Law) is better at baseball but they swap at the midpoint of the game between Brad and Andy
Football is just horrible all the way around both Andy and Jason Campbell are terrible. I thought maybe it was where the press box is located but it’s just a horrible on the road. Andy seems like a great human being and I’m sure his love for Auburn runs deep since being here so long but there are thousands of those in the stands each week but they aren’t the voice of the Auburn Tigers. Who should it be? I have no clue. I thought Paul Ellen should have gotten the job when Rod got it so I don’t think I would be a good judge of who is next but that position shouldn’t be a lifetime appointment
