Can we talk about how awful Bally Sports is?

Last year we won the world series and had a 25% decrease in viewership all because of the screwed up TV contract that Bally refuses to fix. Give me a freaking break.

Can you tell me more as I live in New Orleans and don't get it here too often. I previously had the tmobile deal where I got mlb.tv for free for the season but no longer on tmobile.

I'm a YTTV/Hulu Live guy, so I've been hosed by the pissing contest between the streamers and Sinclair broadcasting.
Wish I could support the Braves the right way, but my viewership number goes to the illegal streams.
Moving into a new house soon and I think I might finally cave and go back to cable. The price of streaming live TV is approaching cable prices, so it's losing its allure.
I miss old school Fox Sports South/Southeast

Yep.
I do DirecTV Stream, which is not necessarily cheap but I think at the end of the day, the allure has shifted from cost savings to the fact that you can have a service with no contract. I was doing streaming since Sling first started but ultimately went back to Comcast for a couple of years. When that contract was up and the costs shot through the roof, I went to DirecTV Stream...so I've done it all, and DTVS has been the best service for me while including everything I need (Bally/FSN, ACCN, etc)

Essentially Bally wants to start its own streaming service and has cut off access by any other streaming service. So it's traditional cable or nothing until Bally creates its own app at some point in the future.

I ended up caving and getting Directv streaming

The no contract is the last remaining perk that keeps me with the streamers, for now. So DirecTV Stream does the same with no contracts?
Sidebar, but it amazes me how contracts spook me off a deal haha. I've kept Hulu Live for 3 years now, but if you had made me sign a deal that locked me down for 3 years I would have ran the other way. I have some odd commitment issue when it comes to TV.

DIRECTV STREAM offers packages with no annual contract. Or, choose an DIRECTV STREAM device included at no additional charge with a 24-month agreement. It's your choice!

I've had directtv steam since before their launch on a promo rate package you can't even get now. I basically have everything for around $80 a month, including the premiums.

Bally is awful.
Give me TBS and nightly Braves games with Joe Simpson.

Well that sucks. Yea, the only way I'll get to watch the Braves this year will be ESPN/ESPN2, Fox or the new Friday night MLB games with AppleTV+.
I saw they took it on the chin last night. We gotta get a replacement for Travis d'Arnaud. Good guy, great catcher but literally a pitcher when he bats. It's an instant out.

This is just an awful take.
I mean Jesus Christ.

Paying for both YTTV and Direct. Direct's formatting sucks arse but only way to get Braves and Hawks.

They just signed him to a new contract this past offseason and he's roughly a league average hitter, which is perfectly fine for a catcher.

I haven't seen this stat and it's too early for 2022. I thought he had great defensive abilities and the pitchers enjoyed throwing to him but could've sworn he was in the bottom 1/3rd of catchers in terms of offense in 2021.
Will look for that stat but I'll gladly be wrong. That'll mean he'll have a good offensive season this year.

d'Arnaud has a career wRC+ of 99. wRC+ (weighted runs created plus) adjusts for run environment, park and league factors, etc. and gives you a rough approximation of how good a hitter is relative to the average guy where the average guy is a 100. For reference, Freddie Freeman's career wRC+ is at 138, meaning he's been roughly 38% better than the average MLB hitter in his time in the league.
If you go by traditional stats, d'Arnaud has a .249/.311/.419 career line for a .730 OPS which is close to league average depending on the season. He's a perfectly serviceable hitter for a catcher. He had a tough year last year likely due to injuries.

That's fair. I know he eventually went down but what I/no one knows is how much he toughed it out and fought through nagging injuries. That could've brought his average stats down last year and that's the one fresh on my mind.
Anyhow, looks like the Braves are back to win 1, lose 1, win 2, lose 2 mentality. So good news, we're right back to last years Championship form. LET'S GO!

I love TdA but when he goes cold, it seems like he is cold for a while.
OPS+ is basically the same for TdA (Career OPS+ of 98), and his OPS+ with the Braves is 104. I'm okay with that considering Tyler Flowers had OPS+ of 90 or less in his last 3 seasons with the Braves.
Not to knock Flowers, but I don't think his framing his last two seasons with the Braves was as good as it had been. Might not have been his fault but more so the home plate umps changing.
ETA- Just looked it up on Baseball Savant. Flowers was still kicking arse stealing strikes in 2018 and 2019. 2020 he only had one Catcher Framing Run but Flowers only played in 22 games that season. Guess I was folding laundry or changing diapers or something else when Flowers was doing all that work and didn't see it.
