Pitchers and catchers report today.

My interest is seeing who the 5th starter will be. Player physicals are usually done today, so that might give some indication if King Felix is still serviceable.

Kyle Wright is a possibility; but his MLB numbers from last year were not good. Unless he made some major off-season strides I don't see how he isn't stashed in AAA waiting on a spot start for a get away game or double header.

Newk is an option, but obviously he can be the long reliever out of the 'pen if someone else gets that 5th spot.

I don't see any way Newk is used as a "long reliever". I think he'll either start or get high leverage multi inning chances in the pen (which I consider to be different than "long reliever")

I meant "long reliever" in the modern sense and the way you described it. I'd have to go back to the late-90s before I can actually remember a starter getting shelled or injured in the early innings, then some guy coming in from the bullpen to try to salvage a win.

Edit- Found this article from 2017 discussing it. Glad to know I am not having selective memory about it.

gotcha...we seem to be in agreement then. most seem to use the term "long reliever" to mean the innings eater when a game is likely lost.

Speaking of relievers: new rule for this season that pitchers must face a minimum of three batters. So the LOOGY will be going the way of the traditional long reliever.

A few more rule changes; 10 day IL is back to 15 days (dislike this)
Managers have 20 seconds to challenge a play instead of 30 (will be interesting to see Joe strictly they enforce this)

Apr 6 is Brian McCann Bobblehead day. That could be interesting.

I'm curious how McCann is received around the clubhouse, especially in light of Markakis' comments yesterday. Not a good look for Mr. Moral Policeman.

Yeah, dude is a major hypocrite. We had to put up with him being a dipshit if people stared at a homerun for half a second too long.

Is this for all players or just pitchers? I saw something the other day on a ticker that made it seem like this was only for pitchers, and would stay 10 days for position players.

yeah, it's still 10 days for positional players. I think they are trying to discourage the merry-go-round of pitchers jumping back and forth from AAA to MLB (like the Braves have taken advantage of the past few seasons)

wife surprised me with some tickets for opening weekend in the Delta 360 Sky Club. Anyone sat here at the TeePee yet?

What's the difference between this club and the club for the seats that are in the first few rows behind home plate? The descriptions on the website look very similar (all inclusive food and drink, seat service, etc).

Truist Club obviously has a lot less people. The food options are more premium although the food in Delta club is great. Truist just steps it up a notch (think lobster, steak, seafood). Also I think that Delta may not include complimentary liquor drinks like Truit. And the seats are obviously different. And the Delta seats don't have the little personal video screens like Truist.

Yeah, I definitely knew about the seating differences, but I wasn't sure about the club differences. Looks like you answered that perfectly. Thanks!

We got our tickets on stubhub, so I'm curious if simply having the ticket gives you access to the Delta parking lot, or if you had to have a parking pass that came with that season ticket.

99.9% sure the parking pass comes separately.
