The crazy part was a few of the shots they hit in the 2nd half were ridiculous plus the stupid free throws to end the game. It could’ve been even worse for them

I like Meechie Johnson. He wore us out last year too.
We did a really good job on BJ Mack. Who I am a fan of and wish we would have pursued harder.

Meechie was incredibly inefficient last night though. We made him take a lot of bad shots. Like there was one he hit from a couple of feet past NBA range and the broadcast gave Griffen some shite for sagging off of him and giving him the shot. But really, aside from elite pro shooters you're cool with giving them those. He's lucky if he makes 1 in 4. If the defense can be good enough to force teams to make outside shots to beat us I think we can live with that with our offense. It's the games where we just keep giving up open layups and dunks that can't keep happening.

Teams have stopped making 3s at an unreal level against us. Our 3pt defense is up to 63rd.

Griffen deserves some love imo. Never flirted with the portal as far as we know and has been locked in. He's a really good player for us. Hopefully he keeps improving.

I'm beginning to really enjoy Estrada. I know he had a stretch early in the game where he was a turnover machine, but I just love how he facilitates and gets rebounds that a guy his size has no business getting. He seems like a great teammate also with the way he acknowledges passes that lead to a score for him. He's no JQ, but he's winning me over.

This group is kind of like the football team. It'll never be easy. Unlikely to get blown out but unlikely to blow anyone out.

I like him a lot too, he is currently 1st on the team in assists per game, 2nd on the team in rebounds per game and 2nd on the team in points scored. He’s shooting 39% from three.
I wish he would shoot a little more than he does.

Can we appreciate Oats finding Sears and getting him here? Mark Sears wasn’t a super sought after transfer that I can remember.
I was excited by his Ohio tape but didn’t think he’d be this type of player. He was really good even last season but he’s the leading SEC scorer so far. Long way to go but he won’t go away.
I’m a huge Quinerly guy and hate seeing him at Memphis but as of now I think it’s ok to say Sears > Quinerly. JQ has better handles and smooth but he’s not better than Mark.

He was a great addition and I love that he is from Alabama, he seems to take pride in playing for his home state team.
He was ranked semi high in the portal, CBS had him 18, 247 had him 20. Pretty sure ESPN had him around 10th but their rankings are behind a paywall now so I cant look.
