In seriousness, Chucks is worth putting your name down and going to a bar in the area for 2 hours. The new Avenue Pub away from downtown is a sneaky way to get the best burger in Tuscaloosa
Innisfree and Houndstooth are good for your age group but covers have gotten ridiculous. Sessions and the Speakeasy above Depalmas are less-college oriented cocktail bars that are both downtown and i think don’t do covers

Gray Lady if you want a sports bar. They have a mini Irish car bomb that you and the boys can race on. It’s across the street from Chuck’s fwiw.

I cant answer without knowing what your group is into.
You want a sports bar? You've got the houndstooth on the strip.
If you’re looking for more of a party scene you've got Galletes which is probably worth checking out. It’s casual in the front but a full dance setup in the back.
Then if you really want to get wild theres rounders which is a three floor night club with house music and what not. Talking girls in club attire with a Vegas club vibe.
Next door on the strip you have the Bear Trap which is cool because they have a roof top setup, but its a little more casual.
If you want a slightly older scene go downtown and you have a decent cocktail bar at Catch 22 and Vittola Cigars if you want to chill for a bit next door earlier in the evening.
Then you have the Booth and Innisfree in that general area as well which both split the difference between galettes and a post grad bar if that makes sense?
If you want upscale theres a rooftop bar at the Alamite Hotel which Saban helped put together which I highly recommend but its pricey and Im not sure you can get in if you aren't staying there.
On top of that you have the Greek scene but unless you were in a fraternity or are bringing girls with you I’m not sure that’s a possibility.
But the bar scene has really improved over the last 15 years and there are plenty of others as well so let me know if you have specific questions and I’m happy to give more detail.

Hit the bars. Drink. Have sex with sorority girls. Then get some messy fries and call it a night so you can get some rest before the game.

The Strip is going to be overcrowded so downtown is your best bet. It's roughly a mile from the strip down University. The bars there will be far less congested. There are plenty of options along 6th Street, University, Greensboro, 4th and also 22nd. Temerson Square is a hot spot too. There's a speakeasy you enter through a Pepsi machine in downtown also. You have to get the code from their IG page.
Plenty to do around campus besides bar hopping though. Tiger Woods has a mini golf course near campus. Then there's the Alabama Museum of Natural History (if you're into that). The Bear Bryant Museum is also cool but I don't know if a non Alabama fan would find it appealing.

Damn… these kids are spoiled with this town now. Wasn’t like that when I was there… wow.

Hell just go drink and socialize at the Phi Gam house right across from stadium . They will have a band and you don’t have to be in a frat to go really …. Nobody cares

If you're looking for barbecue, you might try Dream Land BBQ on Jug Factory Rd. Be forewarned, the place is a total dive but the barbecue is good. I recommend the ribs. This place has a lot of history. A lot of coaches and celebrities have eaten there (Bear Bryant, Joe Paterno, Woody Hayes, Kirk Herbstreit, Reece Davis, etc) .
There's also Archibalds in Northport (just a blink of an eye from Tuscaloosa). Some people swear by it. I think it's also good. Again, this place is a bit of a dive too.

It’s literally the golden standard. Other bbq places have a picture of Archibalds in their restaurants lol.

It depends. Do you openly bark at people and act like a dog?
If so, I would try PetSmart on McFarland.

Probably overselling the physical building

Best BBQ in Tuscaloosa though.
Dreamland is also very good though- more inconsistent if you go there a lot, but it's become fashionable to bash it for some reason.
Overall opinion: Dreamland sauce, Archibalds ribs

You should be working for the Tuscaloosa Tourism Bureau!

To me visiting other places in the conference and having a great time is what makes CFB and the SEC in particular so special.
I've had more people offer me gumbo and free drinks in Baton Rouge win or lose than I can recall. They really will fight or feed you depending on how you act, but they are legitimately outstanding hosts as long as you can take a joke and aren't out looking for trouble.
I've had former UF players in Gainesville invite me to their tailgate, swap stories and point me in the right direction for bars and dinner after the game.
Was at a steakhouse in Lexington and somehow ended up meeting Kentucky fans who invited us to their setup at Keeneland the next day and later to their tailgate expecting nothing in return.
Point is, hospitality and experiencing the local attractions is what makes the conference so great. IMO we owe it to opposing fans to show them a good time so long as they're respectful, help them if needed and make it a fun atmosphere. Its good for them and its how I want people to think of the University of Alabama when they get home if that makes sense?

To anyone from UGA reading this, ignore Dreamland and go to Archibalds.
Archibalds is what Dreamland probably was before the founder handed it over to the next generation who tried to make it a franchise.
Ignore the shabby building, eat the bbq and enjoy!

I think we all sell Bama BBQ short. I’ve lived all over the US and it’s hard to find good BBQ. Even in places like Nashville.

And make sure it's the Archibald's in Northport not Archibald & Woodrow's in Tuscaloosa.

I think The Alcove is a cool bar downtown, don't hear it mentioned much. Dark, good tv's, good music. Sort of an older crowd.
