Just an unreal coach we have to keep doing whatever it takes to keep him.

I can only assume you mean the best hire this century or maybe in the last 50 years because there’s this guy that came along in 1958…..

No Question. Love me some Wimp. But you are correct.

Probably can throw in Sara Patterson as well. Number of championships she’s won is really incredible.

Patterson was an amazing hire but from an exposure standpoint in a sport that turn a profit it is far more important to hire a great basketball coach.

Bear, Saban Oats are all up there on a level of their own.
Posted on 3/23/25 at 9:53 pm to mistaken4193
Neither were conceivable without Paul William Bryant.

Um, there was a dude named Bear.

I love Oats, but Bear Bryant built Alabama. His aura extends even till this day

i agree 100% and I shite on him when the hire was announced. I gladly have egg on my face.

Yep.
I think a lot of folks sleep on Sarah Patterson but damn what a coach. She needs a statue/building named after her..
ETA: To clarify, she has Champion Plaza named after her but I think she deserves more

That Stallings dude was pretty good too

How quickly we forget even a colossus like Paul Bryant. SMH.

Wallace Wade
The Wallace Wade and Thomas hires in succession put southern football on the map, not just Bama football.
Without Thomas, there may not have been a Momma to call Bryant back home.
1. Saban
2. Bryant
3. Oats
4. Wade
5. Thomas
Honorable mentions: Patterson (great coach but it's not a big 3 sport); Stallings (stalled what could have been a prolonged collapse... or at least delayed one); Newton, Sanderson
