And I’m a Dawg fan.
Serious question for the board:
Can Kirby surpass Saban?

How about this:
Kirby's limited Saban like success is only because of three special players: Stetson, Bowers and Mchonkey.
Guess what? They are all gone now. Kirby has peaked and I'll bet my house on it.

Doubt we see a dynasty like that in this new era of unlimited free agency.

He certainly has enough time left to do so. But it's a lot easier said than done.
Getting to the top is one thing, maintaining it long term is a whole other ball game. That was really what set Saban apart.
Kirby learned from the best so if you are going to pick anyone to do it right now, it's probably Kirby.
But he's not even half way to match Saban's 7 yet.

Even if he surpasses him with hardware I wouldn’t necessarily anoint Kirby as better than him. Time will tell but that’s my opinion right now.
Saban started from the bottom and worked his way to the upper echelons of coaching. He created the system through 2 decades of coaching at all levels that Kirby implemented his first year as head coach.
There’s no reason to fault Kirby for getting a premier head coaching job right off the bat either, that isn’t my point. Kirby’s been an excellent coach at every level too. I’m just saying Saban wandered through the jungle and built the system to be the most accomplished coach of all time. You have to give credit to that other than just his hardware.

No.
Can Kirby win a few more NCs? YES
Will he? Unclear.

Imagine learning from Bobby Bowden and Nick Saban?
Kirby has had some great role models.

Surpass is Subjective I assume that means more nattys. My personal opinion is any record can be broken except cal Jr's 2600 consecutive mlb games played but if kirby coaches long enough to supplant saban as the title king it'll more be viewed as kirby is the king of the new era, saban is the king of the old era. Cfb is going through rapid changes right now and the game will look way way different if kirby is around that long.

I think Kirby coaches at Georgia a couple more years and then heads to the NFL.
Needs a couple of years more coaching college to qualify for the college football hall of fame...but I think more coaches are going to bail on this current college sports shitshow if given the opportunity.
I've always preferred college football, but with the changes, the quality of life for a NFL head coach has to be exponentially better now.

Kirby has a shot and with expanded playoffs will have more opportunities to win titles without being perfect during regular season
That's if he doesn't get burnout from dealing with today's college football climate, and that goes for all coaches these days

I think since covid every coach good enough to be in the nfl has at least considered it. There was never an off season for college football but this no rules nil transfer era has got to be hell on coaches.
