Saved his career when he did Tropic Thunder.

He was on a brutal streak of movies. Then he was actually in a good movie and finally gave a funny performance.

Then he almost killed it again with Ghosts of Girlfriends Past..

but rebounded nicely with Lincoln Lawyer. Ever since then he's been on a roll.

Most if not all the movies since 2011 have been getting good reviews and he's delivered good performances. Looking forward to his new HBO show as well.

What other actor do you think can turn it around in the future?

Yep, Lincoln Lawyer was the turnaround.

Who knows? I'd love to see that nut, Nicolas Cage, get on a roll. He occasionally sneaks a good performance in (Lord of War), but it's been awhile since he's had any kind of consistency. Too bad, because he's got a lot of natural talent.

Colin Ferrell

He's done some decent smaller stuff like In Bruges but he's also done some total shitfests most recently like that vampire movie and Total Recall.

Similar to MM, he was the "IT" actor for a little while but never broke out like expected.

I think he's off to a good start reinventing himself like MM after his performance in Saving Mr. Banks.

Gerard Butler. Should have been cast in Les Mis in place of Russell Crowe.

All McConaughy did was stop doing lame romantic comedies. Maybe he just got tired of them. Its not like he suddenly got talented over night. I assume he enjoyed those type of roles otherwise he wouldn't have kept doing them.

I was talking about it tonight, but Jesus he had a brutal streak of horrible chick flicks. But now he is on an incredible run of really good movies. I've always thought that McConaughey was a very underrated actor who needed bigger roles, and finally he's getting them. Next year he's the star in a Christopher Nolan film, so he's turned it around completely. I wish him the best, since he's a great guy and a great actor.

Robert Downey Jr. is the definition of an actor who turned his career around.

Here's McConaughey doing one those awesome roundtables that The Hollywood Reporter does every year around awards season.

Start around the 7:30 mark. He talks about the turn he made in his career.

You didnt like Ghosts of Girlfriends Past? There were some laughs there.

Failure to Launch was the lowpoint. I watched it because some guys I know were in the Paintball scene. And if I'm being honest, I think that movie might have been better if the female lead was anyone other than horseface.

But Lincoln Lawyer and Mud were great. I actually watched the Newton Boys for the first time the other day and really liked it.

MM was intentionally doing a chick flick every other year, getting paid, and then living the life on that paycheck. They had an article about it a while back in men's journal or something like that. I'm sure now that he's a little older with a family he's probably a little more serious.
