The transfer portal sucks

I know alot of y'all have had to deal with it while it's not been a big deal to Bama fans til now, but it just makes being a fan hard.
Constant trades are reason I stopped following pro ball towards the end of the 90s.
Not that I blame the players for doing what's best for them, but it's hard to be a fan when you invest in players just to see them swap teams left and right.
Like Jordan was a Bull and always a Bull. Marino was a Dolphin and always a Dolphin. Montana a 49er, Ewing a Knick, Elway a Bronco... yeah guys might change when they got older, etc. But I just miss those years where you could be a fan of a team and really follow the players cause you knew they'd be back every year.
Now college is even worse.

The portal and NIL deals have definitely changed the game. Hard to see a lot of positives so far.

It does but it may very well be DeBoer’s saving grace to field a competitive team in the short term.

As Seinfeld said, free agency (in this case the portal) makes us cheer for the shirts, not the players.

The only good thing IMO that has come out of it is now we can all pay our players. Bc in the old days, some schools got penalized harshly for doing things other schools did on the reg. The NCAA was very selective on who they decided to punish.

It could be a good thing but it needs rules to cut down the craziness. Players should be allowed to transfer but things like entering the portal forces you to transfer so they can't use it as a cash grab. Limit the number of transfers. There are more rules to help.

It's really caused me to rethink how passionate I am about college sports. It's basically an annual one year free agency for every player on every team. You have to recruit other players as well as your own players to stay.

Last year, we lost a D-line starter to FSU because of NIL and the Portal.
This year, the same player returns to SC.
