We are in the Tulsa area and Barnsdall is just horrible. Make shift triage units are set up. Unconfirmed report from a news station in the state that a nursing home took a hit.

250 mph winds reported at an airport near Bartlesville.. that’s a strong F4 if it holds up to be true

You see the radar signature on that one?

Absolute monster.

Praying for the people there, that’s the kind of storm that leaves nothing but a concrete slab if it comes your way.

the damage is the worst on:

1. flat land

2. land heading up a mountain on the side where the storm came/comes from

So basically any storm in the south United States is heading east, or more accurately, ENE

So if your property is on the west side of a mountain or an area within a mountain/hill range that is elevating as the wind moves east to ENE, you are more at risk

if you're on the east side a mountain or hill, you are somewhat protected

we've all seen entire western sides of wooded mountains combed over like God had a brush and hair gel

East Okie is more hilly than the flat OKC/West area but still nothing compared to out west.

Below is the area near Sulphur the town that got hit twice the other week.

Yes, and again, no one said "hilly and mountain areas don't get hit."

It was said, in the south, it's better to be on the eastern side of a hill or mountain than it is the be on the western side.

As for Oregon, or Ontario Canada, or Mexico, I have no idea which way the wind blows across those and endless examples.
