https://twsn.net/2024/05/deion-sanders-will-be-the-florida-gators-head-coach-in-2025

quote:

While the Buffaloes were once a big brand in the conference, only the Sanders name is “name recognition” returning to the familiar ground.

Sanders and his Buffaloes may dominate the conference. They have addressed offensive line issues with players like five-star freshman offensive tackle Jordan Seaton, and added depth as the wide receiver position. Will Sheppard, a four-year player from Vanderbilt will see a lot of action, and defensively, Samuel Okunlola via Pittsburgh and Keaten Wade from Kentucky will be tasked with hunting opposing quarterbacks. The overall production will make the Colorado Buffaloes an immediate contender in the conference, and Sanders a hot commodity with options.

One huge option could be in the SEC. A homecoming of sorts for college and NFL royalty. In Gainesville, at the University of Florida, Sanders would be the superstar name with D-1 credentials to resurrect a fading dynasty in the Gators.

Current head coach Billy Napier received the vote of confidence from Florida AD Scott Stricklin which is often the kiss of death when used to describe a coach’s job security. Napier, who over two seasons has yet to finish above .500, has gone only 6-10 in the SEC and 11-14 overall in Gainesville. His efforts have yielded no higher than fourth place in the SEC East.

Good enough to roll the dice beyond the 2024 season? Gator fans won’t think so. The status quo will not be good enough, neither will a “winning season”. Florida has had Urban Myer, and Steve Spurrier. Heisman Trophy winners and national championships. They have history. They have tradition. Napier doesn’t have the credentials to guide Gator Nation from SEC also-ran to contender. Sanders does

Imagine the roster turnover at a program with more talent than Colorado.

does Florida really have all that more talent than Colorado?

I ask because the Billy Bots keep blaming Dan Mullen and “a lack of talent” for why bargain bin Billy can’t get over .500, so how talented is Florida really?

Or is Napier just that bad?

If you scroll to the front page of NCAA it says Tennessee is the dark horse SEC champ and Will Howard wins the Heisman

I started a thread about this subject and was downvoted away. I think they should hire him to bring life into the program.

I would love to see Sanders use his current recruiting tactics in Gainesville.

Never do an in home visit because players should want to see him instead

Run off half the team and add 40 players from the portal. Do it Florida!

I would be fine with this but... the Stanford game.

Up 29-0 going into the middle of the Third quarter. Colorado loses. Sanders looked as lost as can be on the sidelines. Look. Pittman is not a great game day coach. We can all agree on that.

But he could close out the deal on a 29 point lead.

We gave Sanders a lot more credit for beating some very over ranked teams at the start of the season and not for going from 4-2 to 4-8.

Alabama fans would have burned Saban's home to the ground. Tennessee fans would have sworn off butt chugging for 24 hours. A&m would have only given him a 5 million dollar bonus.

It’s also Colorado. They had no depth.

Kiffin seems like the obvious choice if you could get him.

Lol what is this being based on? Going 4-8? Prime would set Florida back another decade.

He should be, and they should be able to. This season is his interview for another job. If he can do it at Ole Miss, he can do it somewhere else.

I’m not sure Sanders would go down well with big time boosters anywhere. He’s intriguing yes but until he does something remarkable most aren’t going to want to deal with someone who doesn’t want to play by the usual rules of anything. Maybe he is more amenable to input than his image makes him appear but at most big time programs you have to be able to throw a bone to the guys writing the checks. At his former school he wrote the checks himself and while CU is different he took over a program that had fallen so hard they were ready to try anything.

The writer of this drivel is an idiot. And, Sanders will never be the head coach of the Florida. Gators.
