99.5% is significantly better than FedEx's on time delivery rate of 95.3%

Delta’s number doesn’t have a time limit. Nice try. Delta is lucky to even get humans on time 80%.

Delta added flights into Austin that weekend as Formula 1 is also in town. It isn't mentioned in their release as the Atlanta-Austin route is already an existing route.

Right but what I'm saying is I would have thought they would add even more coming from Atlanta since that's where high demand would be. I'm having to fly in and out of San Antonio that weekend just because of the exorbitant prices into Austin.

Delta has a mishandled baggage percentage of 0.51%, which is exceptional. FYI.

Sounds like something a Delta pilot would say.

I used to do 100-120 segments a year on Delta (for about 14 years). Only had them misdirect my luggage twice. They first time they got it to my hotel the next day. The second time, it arrived at the hotel the same night.

Southwest has misdirected my luggage twice in FAR fewer flights.

Sec weekend… carry on. The only time I’ve checked luggage was my military uniforms and gear.

Delta is charging prices that high because they can. Airline ticket pricing has less to do with the cost associated with getting you there and more to do with what they believe someone will pay for a ticket. Georgia fans are known around the league for traveling well and have wealthier alumni than a lot of other schools. Couple that with the fact that most of them live in Atlanta which is a Delta fortress hub and the fact that F1, which always brings exorbitant prices, means you'll have a recipe for high fares.

Also, you may be counting your blessings flying from SAT. Austin airport is in the middle of a major construction project which is putting extra strain on an airport that already can't handle the number of flights it has.

This makes no sense to any intelligent person. If the bag doesn't arrive when you do, it's late.

Great but the number you refer to is lost vs not lost. The fedex number was on time which is already 5x better than delta’s on time rate not including baggage delays.

bullshite. You're now comparing an airlines on-time arrival to FedEx. How would Delta look if their scheduled arrival time is simply "tomorrow"? You lose.

I still haven’t figured out why you’re attempting to compare one of the largest passenger airlines in the world to a cargo company.

Delta leads the big boys in lowest rate of mishandled baggage. Each one of those bags is individually tagged, scanned, & loaded/unloaded.

FedEx ships pallets full of pre-sorted, shrink wrapped cargo that’s loaded onto the plane with a forklift.

I've traveled for consulting work for 20 years. Week at a time. I never check bags. One less thing to worry about.

Yeah, very few reasons to check a bag domestically, IMO. Unless you’re taking a specialty trip, or carrying liquor, etc. - sticking to a carry on is so much easier.

I used to carry on for two or three week business trips to China - some stereotypes are on point. They wash clothes well over there. Now that I'm retired, my wife and I check bags because of wife.

I've never had such a problem with Delta nor any other airline as bad as some of them are for that matter.

I would rather take a Greyhound bus then spirit or frontier though.
