It feels like Bruce is trying to make a stand on NIL funds, our first offer is our only offer.

Not sure how much of it is Bruce making a stand and us being on a tight budget and not being able to even make a counter offer. Also feels like the Broome offer/pitch has put us in a bind. He’s getting a bag (rightfully so) but we’ve also made it known he’s going to get minutes at the 4. Combine that with a guy who has a year in the system and played well at the end of the year, and I’m betting guys just don’t love the idea of being offered what is likely an average NIL deal to potentially get 10-15 mins a game.

We’ve kept all the returning guys we really wanted to keep which is a huge win, got a solid starting PG, but man has it been rough after that.

Finally settled. Not a terrible pickup but the 4 won’t be a strength. Maybe we can go all in on this last guard spot and get someone above average

I can come to grips with Broome getting a decent amount of time at the 4, but I feel like that means we are gonna have to get creative with lineups and go with a G/W heavy lineup every now and then. I am just not confident in Cardwell being able to play heavy minutes without fouling out.

I’d say Miles Kelly is the big fish out there right now. Would be a heck of a pull.

Yeah for sure. We could go small ball some and put him at the 3 and CBM at the 4, with any of the bigs in at C. Tahaad would be a tough guard with that lineup running the P&R.

Regarding the 4 we don’t need some dynamic scorer, just really need someone who can play solid D and rebound. Play good solid D, shoot some mid range, and dominate match-ups down low. We have a dynamic 5, 3, 2 and 1 so compliment them

Apples and Oranges comparisons of styles and team strengths. Bama's Nelson was a 5 last year by necessity often. He is a four. Knecht was a four. We dont need a Knecht or Nelson. But we need more than Chaney and some dude that couldn't start at SMU.

Let’s wait and see what Chaney can give at the 4 before calling the position a failure. I like what I saw from him the last 1/3 of the season. I believe he can make strides in the off season and be a nice player at the PF.

Its not going to be a failure. It's going to be a liability though.

Pt is, not all 5 have starters need to be scorers. We need some solid role players and he should do well with that role.

Being undynamic does not automatically mean key role players.

Broome could turn lesser 5's on Bama's team his bitch. Those lessers were at best liabilities. We dont want liabilities.

I was asking about Miles Kelly… I know we already signed Hudson. He’s about as blah as it gets.

Correct, and being a “liability” is not automatic either.

You can quote my words all you want but the position is the weak link right now.

We can pray for his development for sure but he relied on raw athleticism last year.
