Caitlin Clark went No. 1 overall at last night's WNBA Draft. And of course she'll make millions in endorsement deals, but here's her real salary as a player...

How shocking! It's a sport. Anyone should feel lucky to make any kind of living wage playing a game for a living.

All of the women complaining that the WNBA players don’t make enough are the same ones who do not support any of the teams. They don’t watch it on tv or go to the games. It’s simple math. When your league generates less viewership than msnbc, you’re probably not going to generate much ad revenue.

I wonder what the salary is for the #1 overall softball player in the draft?

The WNBA loses money every year. It's a welfare program for really tall, athletic women.

I feel like the WNBA TV ratings will do nothing but improve, which should improve their salaries. Given people know some of the players now

Most businesses that lose 10 million a year lay off all of their employees instead of having shills act shocked they don't get paid very well.

Still way to high... A new employee of a company that literally hemorrhages millions of dollars each year and has to be subsidized by another company just to stay afloat should never complain about compensation

But can she rap?

Knew there was a discrepancy between the amount women were paid compared to the men, but didn't realize it was that big. Of course, players like Clark and Reese will still have a lot of income coming in from their endorsements deals, but that's still embarrassing to see the large gap in salaries.

Male athletes might be considered overpaid. They’re elite of course, but they’re just entertainers. They’re not essential to anything.

maybe she will pick up some endorsement deals from Birkenstock or Doc Martin shoes, and chain wallet / flannel shirt companies.

It is a business loser, so fortunate they even have a league.

She could make half of that working "fast food" in California.

She's better than Pete and he made more than that 50 years ago

and that’s completely subsidized by the NBA.

She should have taken Ice Cubes $5 million. The WNBA is counting on this crop of women's college basketball stars to bring their tv ratings with them. But no one cares about the WNBA. They care about their schools. They may get some to follow Clark, Reese, etc., but it won't be enough to effect any major changes in tv deals. I'd like to see them make more, but the economics are not there.

She'll make more from endorsements.

Look no one gives a crap about the WNBA. Not a big ticket so salary represents that not hard to see

I make more than what she will make in her first two years combined

She should’ve joined Big 3

It’s only shocking until you realize the WNBA as a whole loses about $10 million a year every year. She’s lucky they’re able to pay her at all.

Technically the WNBA doesn't pay them... they are subsidized by the NBA. But you are right, she is lucky to be get paid what she is getting paid.
